Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd (HMSI) surpassed the eight million mark in terms of total sales since the start of production 11 years ago.
 
Honda is also planning to expand its production capacity and aims to produce and sell 21 lakh units in the financial year 2011-2012 from its two facilities in Manesar (Haryana) and Tapukara (Rajasthan).The Tapukara plant currently has a production capacity of six lakh units. HSMI plans to double the capacity of this plant by March 2012.
 
Their third plant in the Bangalore area will be operational from the first half of 2013 and will have an annual production capacity of 12 lakh units annually, with the target of producing 40 lakh units annually from all their plants by 2013. They also plan to expand the number of outlets in India from 1200 to 1500 by the end of this year.
