The Hero MotoCorp Workers Union, at its Gurgaon plant, have announced a possible strike after legal action taken by the Indian two wheeler market leader on some workers after getting into a scuffle at the plant’s shop floor. Hero has invested Rs 450 crore on a Centre of Global Innovation, Research and Design in Kukas, Rajasthan. This new facility will hire close to 600 engineers along with supporting staff and will develop models for Indian and overseas markets.

The Kukas plant in Rajasthan is slated to be operational by early 2015 after which Hero’s R&D centres from Gurgaon and Dharuhera will be shifted here. Furthermore, Hero has also expressed interest in investing close to Rs 1300 crore in Rajasthan. Hero commenced work on its Neemrana plant in Rajasthan earlier this year, which will be operational in the first half of 2014. The Indian marquee has estimated employment of close to 3500 workers in the state in total once these facilities are up and running. Hero MotoCorp plan to diffuse this situation at its Gurgaon plant in the near future to avoid any disruption in operations.
