The Continental group plans to bring their two-wheeler anti-lock braking systems into India. Continental also makes several automotive chassis, powertrains and electronics for various vehicles. Continental’s ABS unit will be universally designed to fit a variety of Indian motorcycle and scooters. This will be a single channel electronic system, specially developed for developing Asian markets, in which two-wheeler commuting is widespread. Continental plans to start production of their ABS unit in 2014, and the system will roughly weigh 420gm. Continental also produces twin-channel ABS, which they offer in international markets.

ABS for two-wheelers is becoming a compulsory safety requirement in various countries around the world. Taking the poor conditions of Indian roads into account, ABS on motorcycles and scooters is always going to prove a boon here.
