    BMW S1000RR is IBOTY 2010-11

BMW Motorrad’s S1000RR has won The International Bike of The Year award 2010-2011, in its 26th year. Jury members representing 14 magazines, including Autocar India, came together across the globe to determine the best of all motorcycles launched through the year.

This IBOTY crown is the icing on the cake for BMW, after a jubilant debut year in the competitive sportsbike segment, and is BMW’s third International Bike Of The Year victory. BMW last won IBOTY in 2004 with the R1200GS.

The versatile and path-breaking Ducati Multistrada 1200 S has come in a deserving second this year, with the Honda VFR 1200F DCT and Yamaha Super Ténéré tied in third place.

The latest IBOTY winner was described by jury members as: “The BMW S1000RR combines cutting edge technology, performance and ease of use. At the same time it is a bike that works exceptionally well on both road and track. Furthermore the BMW S1000RR represents a breakthrough for the integration of electronics to create a safer and more engaging ride.”
