BMW Motorrad CEO Markus Flasch has posted a video revealing the production-spec F 450 GS ahead of its debut at EICMA 2025 tomorrow. Following the discontinuation of the G 310 GS, this upcoming ADV will serve as the entry point into BMW’s GS family and will be made in India by TVS.

BMW F 450 GS: What to expect

Likely to be offered in multiple variants with different hardware levels

The F 450 GS concept was first showcased at EICMA 2024. The production version now seen in the video, along with earlier test mule sightings and patent filings, reveals several details. We now know that the bike will feature a quad-LED DRL (daytime running lamp) setup inspired by the new R 1300 GS, a single front disc brake and a golden-coloured USD fork.

The bike in the video features wire-spoke wheels, but test mules running alloy wheels have also been spotted on several occasions, suggesting that multiple variants will be available. That said, both variants are likely to feature a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel setup.

BMW previously revealed that the concept was powered by a new 450cc parallel-twin engine producing 48hp. The company claimed that the bike weighed 175kg, without mentioning whether it was kerb weight or dry weight. However, given that the smaller G 310 GS had a 175kg kerb weight, this figure is likely without fluids. In reality, the production bike will probably weigh more than the concept.

Another interesting feature we’re likely to see with the baby GS tomorrow is a semi-automatic transmission. The system is expected to be a cost-effective version of BMW’s Automated Shift Assistant (like on the R 1300 GS) and should allow fully automatic shifting in ‘D’ mode or manual control via the conventional gear lever in ‘M’ mode.

While it remains to be seen when BMW launches the F 450 GS here and what pricing strategy it will follow, it will enter an increasingly competitive segment that includes the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, KTM 390 Adventure and Honda NX500.
