In a bid to capture a wider audience in the commuter segment, Pune-based motorcycle manufacturer Bajaj has today launched two new and more powerful Discover variants. First up is the Discover 150F, a faired variant, with its close twin being the Discover 150S, a bike that’s more similar to smaller Discovers.
The Discover 150F features an analogue speedometer and a digital odometer, trip meter, fuel gauge, service interval indicator and a clock. The instrument console on the Discover 150S is more standard, with an analogue speedometer, odometer, trip meter and the convenience of a fuel-gauge.
Both bikes are powered by a new, four-stroke, 144.8cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled and carburetted engine, mated to five-speed gearboxes that shift in an all up pattern. Power drives the rear wheel via enclosed drive chains.
Maximum power from the Discover is at par with the 150cc class, 14.3bhp generated at 8500rpm, while peak torque output is 1.3kgm, at 6500rpm.
Both Discovers are built around a semi-double cradle frame, with rectangular section steel swingarms. The Discover 150F tips the scales at 132kg, while the Discover 150S weighs 130kg (both kerb weights).
An electric starter is available as standard on both new Discover motorcycles. Telescopic front forks and a rear monoshock are also available with both the bikes. They get 240mm front disc brakes along with 130mm rear drum brakes. They also get ten-spoke alloys, with MRF made 80/100 x 17 tyres upfront and 100/90 x 17 section rubber at rear, also tubeless.
The Discover 150F is priced at Rs 58,739 (ex-showroom, Pune) and the Discover 150S is available in two variants, a drum brake version that is priced at Rs 51,720 (ex-showroom, Pune), and disc brake variant available for Rs 54,725 (ex-showroom, Pune).
