AMW Motorcycles has announced that bookings for CFMoto motorcycles will begin from August 5, 2019. Customers can book any of the four bikes on the official AMW-CFMoto website by paying the Rs 5,000 booking cost.

Bengaluru-based AMW Motorcycles is the official Indian partner of Chinese motorcycle manufacturer CFMoto and recently launched the CFMoto 300NK, 650NK, 650MT and 650GT models in India. Their introductory prices are pretty competitive, beginning at Rs 2.29 lakh for the 300NK and going up to Rs 5.45 lakh for the 650GT.

CFMoto is a Chinese bike maker that was founded in 1989 and is based out of Zhejiang Province in China. Besides India, CFMoto’s reach extends to Australia, Asia and North America.

The 300NK is street-naked motorcycle that goes up against the likes of the KTM 390 Duke (Rs 2.44 lakh), Honda CB300R (Rs 2.41 lakh), BMW G 310 R (Rs 2.99 lakh) and the Royal Enfield 650 twins (Rs 2.50 lakh) in the Indian market.

The 300NK is powered by a 292.2cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that produces 34hp at 7,200rpm and 20.5Nm at 8,800rpm. Power is sent to the rear wheel via a 6-speed gearbox. The NK300 uses a USD front fork and monoshock for suspension duties.

The 300NK also has a TFT display with Rain and Sport riding modes. When we asked what the ride modes do, AMW officials weren't sure. We'll have to wait until we ride the bike to find out.

The CFMoto 650 series are quite well-priced as well and go up directly against the Kawasaki range of 650s. All three motorcycles are powered by the same 649cc, liquid-cooled, in-line, twin engine. However, each motorcycle’s state of tune is based on their application.

The CFMoto 650NK (Rs 3.99 lakh) is a direct competitor to the Kawasaki Z650 (Rs 4.99 lakh ex-showroom, Mumbai) street-naked. That makes it Rs 1 lakh cheaper than the Japanese motorcycle. The 650NK’s motor produces 61hp at 9,000rpm and 56Nm of torque at 7,000rpm and is paired to a 6-speed transmission.

The CFMoto 650MT (Rs 4.99 lakh) is another well-priced motorcycle – the adventure tourer of the range. It has an adjustable USD fork at the front with 140mm travel and a preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear. Other features include LED headlamps, an adjustable windscreen and knuckle guards on the handlebar. The 650MT is the most powerful model among the trio; its engine is tuned to produce 71hp at 8,750rpm and 62Nm of torque at 7,000rpm. The 650MT goes up against the Kawasaki NInja 650 (Rs 6.69 lakh ex-showroom, Mumbai) and the Benelli TRK 502 (Rs 5.10 lakh).

The CFMoto 650 GT is the sports tourer. Its motor is tuned to produce 62.5hp at 9,000rpm and 58.5Nm of torque at 7,000rpm. It offers a strong mid-range, reducing the need to keep upshifting or downshifting to stay in the powerband. Other 650GT-specific features include a 5.0-inch TFT digital instrument panel that features two layouts (Touring and Sports), a USB charging port and a 12V power socket to charge smartphones. The CFMoto 650GT competes with the Kawasaki Ninja 650 (Rs 5.49 lakh, ex-Mumbai).

All CFMoto models come with a standard two-year warranty with an extended five-year warranty also on offer. The company has announced plans to open seven dealerships to start in India, with more in the pipeline. The initial set of dealerships will be operational from September 2019 onwards.
