KTM has unveiled the production-ready 990 RC R, marking the Austrian brand's return to the supersport segment after nearly a decade. The 990 RC R succeeds the discontinued RC8 and will be manufactured in Austria starting this month.
The bike is powered by the LC8c parallel-twin engine producing 130hp and 103Nm of torque – up 7hp from the 990 Duke that uses the same motor. Hardware includes a purpose-built steel chassis with aluminium subframe, WP APEX suspension, and Brembo 4-piston Hypure calipers. An 8.8-inch TFT lets you toggle between four standard ride modes (Rain, Street, Sport, Custom) with an optional Track mode, alongside telemetry data including lean angle and throttle opening rates.
The 990 RC R will compete against the Kawasaki ZX-6R, Ducati Panigale V2, Yamaha R9 and Honda CBR600RR once it goes on sale.
