Isuzu recently launched the MY26 V-Cross in India with updates to its design elements and feature upgrades such as a 360-degree camera and a bigger touchscreen. The V-Cross locks horns with the similarly specced Toyota Hilux, so we compare both to find out which of these pickup trucks offers more in terms of specifications.
Explore full specs, features, and a price breakdown in our V-Cross vs Hilux comparison.
Isuzu V-Cross vs Toyota Hilux: Dimensions
The Isuzu is taller, while the Hilux is longer
While both pickup trucks are not too far apart in width, the V-Cross is 40mm taller and has a 10mm longer wheelbase. However, in terms of overall length, the Hilux is 30mm longer.
Isuzu V-Cross vs Toyota Hilux: Engine specifications
Both get diesel engines, but the Hilux packs more power and torque
Although both models come with a diesel engine, the Toyota pickup has a bigger heart, which helps it produce 41hp and 140Nm more than the Isuzu offering. Both have similar transmission options and come with a 4WD setup.
Isuzu V-Cross vs Toyota Hilux: Exterior
Some lighting elements are halogen-based on the V-Cross
The Toyota Hilux gets all LED lighting, whereas the Isuzu makes do with halogen bulbs for the fog lamps and tail-lamps. The Hilux even gets rear fog lamps, which are missing on the Isuzu. On the other hand, the V-Cross is offered with roof rails and side steps, both of which are optional accessories with the Hilux.
Isuzu V-Cross vs Toyota Hilux: Interior and features
The V-Cross has a bigger touchscreen, but the Hilux offers dual-zone AC
The V-Cross not only offers a bigger infotainment system but also two more speakers than the Hilux. While automatic climate control is available in both models, the Hilux takes it up a notch with dual-zone AC. Moreover, it also offers more adjustment for the driver’s seat and a cooled glove box over the V-Cross. One difference between the two pickups is that in the V-Cross, the rear bench can be flat-folded, while in the Hilux, it can be flipped upwards.
Isuzu V-Cross vs Toyota Hilux: Driving tech
Both pickups get 4WD and locking differentials
In terms of driving tech, both the V-Cross and Hilux feature a shift-by-wire 4WD setup with a low-range transfer case and electronic differential locks. And both miss out on paddleshifters with the automatic transmission.
Isuzu V-Cross vs Toyota Hilux: Safety features
The Hilux lacks a 360-degree camera and TPMS
While the top-spec V-Cross gets 6 airbags, the entry-spec Z variant gets only two airbags. The Hilux, on the other hand, offers 7 airbags across its range, although it only gets a rear parking camera compared to a 360-degree setup on the V-Cross. The Hilux also offers front parking sensors and an auto-dimming interior rearview mirror (IRVM), but it lacks a tyre-pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
Isuzu V-Cross vs Toyota Hilux: Prices
Top-end prices of both pickups differ by over Rs 5 lakh
Surely, the Hilux carries the Toyota badge that unlocks more service touchpoints and a bigger engine with more power and torque. But the V-Cross is the more affordable option. Its base variant is priced Rs 2.52 lakh lower than the Hilux’s, and the gap increases to a massive Rs 5.09 lakh when their top variants are compared. In that sense, the V-Cross regains some edge by offering more value with nearly as many features as the Hilux.
