The midsize sedan is set to receive its second facelift on May 22, bringing updates to both the exterior and interior.

The current-generation Honda City received its first facelift in 2023, and the second one is due on May 22. Exterior and interior spy shots of the facelifted sedan have already surfaced online, providing an early look at the changes. The timing matters for Honda India, as it wants to keep the City fresh in the midsize sedan segment. The Hyundai Verna has already been updated, while the Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia are also set to get facelifts this year.

1. What exterior updates could the Honda City facelift get?

Starting with the front, the grille gets a honeycomb pattern, and for a cleaner look, the Honda logo now sits above it. Flanking the grille are all-new headlights that appear sleeker than before, bridged by a light bar. The bumper below has also been redesigned and features triangular trims on its sides; the honeycomb pattern extends to the bumper grille as well.

The side profile is largely unchanged, save for a new design for the alloy wheels. As for the rear, changes are limited to a sportier bumper, smoked tail-lights and vertical reflector units. In one of the spy shots, the sedan was even seen in a new black exterior shade. The current City is offered in silver, blue, red, white, brown and grey colour options.

2. What interior changes are likely on the Honda City facelift?

One of the key interior updates seen in online spy shots is a larger central touchscreen, likely 10.25 inches, over the current 8-inch unit. Type-C ports and front-seat ventilation buttons are also new. A 360-degree camera setup is another addition.

Physical controls throughout the cabin and a part-digital driver’s display have been carried over. Features such as an 8-speaker sound system, a wireless phone charging pad, a sunroof and a rear windscreen sunshade are also likely to continue.

3. What powertrains will the Honda City facelift offer?

The new City will most likely remain unchanged on the mechanical front, offering a naturally aspirated 121hp 1.5-litre petrol engine, mated to either a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic. Similarly, the City e:HEV could retain its 126hp 1.5-litre strong hybrid powertrain.
