Audi A6 facelift

Price: Rs 60 lakh-65 lakh
Launch: Mid 2024
Engine 2.0-litre turbo-petrol

The Audi A6 facelift was revealed for international markets in May 2023 with subtle exterior tweaks, relatively minor interior changes, and some new features, such as Audi’s 12.3-inch ‘Virtual Cockpit’ digital instrument cluster coming as standard across the range. Updates to the outside include a revised matrix LED headlight design with a cleaner look for the DRLs, and a more prominent single-frame grille, along with changes to the front and rear bumpers. There’ll also be a new set of alloy wheels on offer. The current model’s 245hp, 2.0-litre mild-hybrid turbo-petrol engine and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic are expected to continue unchanged.

New BMW 5 Series

Price: Rs 70 lakh-80 lakh
Launch: Late 2024
Engine: 2.0-litre turbo-petrol, 2.0-litre diesel

The new generation of the 5 Series, expectedly, will be larger and comfier than the outgoing car and, like the new 7 Series, will also feature a twin-screen layout on the inside – a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and 14.9-inch touchscreen – with the latest iDrive 8.5 system. Interestingly, it’s the first BMW to offer a fully vegan interior option overseas. This new 5 Series line-up will include petrol and diesel engines, both with 48V mild-hybrid technology, and plug-in hybrid powertrains, which are unlikely to come to India. The biggest news, however, is that BMW will be bringing the long-wheelbase version of the 5 Series to India to take on the next-gen Mercedes-Benz E-Class long wheelbase head-on.

Citroen C3X

Price: Rs 10 lakh-12 lakh
Launch: Early 2024
Engine: 1.2-litre turbo-petrol

Citroen’s fifth offering in India is likely to be the C3X, a midsize sedan with fastback styling and an SUV-like high ground clearance, giving it a unique identity. This car will be Citroen’s fourth product to be built on the heavily localised common modular platform (CMP), following the C3, eC3 and C3 Aircross, and we expect greater parts sharing between these cars, including similar equipment lists. The C3X will also be powered by the 110hp, 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine mated to either a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission. An electric derivative is also likely to be introduced a few months after the ICE version is launched.

New Honda Amaze

Price: Rs 7.5 lakh-10 lakh
Launch: Mid 2024
Engine: 1.2 petrol

Honda is gearing up to unveil the all-new third-generation Amaze, which will be based on a heavily updated version of the current platform. The new Amaze will still measure less than four metres in length, and likely carry forward the existing 90hp, 1.2-litre petrol engine with either a 5-speed manual or a CVT auto. The design is likely to bear a stronger resemblance to the City and other global Honda sedans. While it is certain that a diesel powertrain will not return, it remains to be seen whether Honda will introduce CNG variants.

New Maruti Suzuki Dzire

Price: Rs 7 lakh-9.5 lakh
Launch: Mid 2024
Engine: 1.2 petrol

Current model used for representation only

Following the India launch of the new Swift, Maruti Suzuki will also bring the fourth-generation Dzire, an all-new version of the bestselling compact sedan, to the country. Like the Swift, the Dzire will be based on a new platform, sport a new design, and get some significant changes to its interiors and feature list. Expect Maruti to offer the new Dzire with the same 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine (codenamed Z12) as the Swift hatch.

New Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Price: Rs 70 lakh-90 lakh
Launch: Late 2024
Engine: 2.0-turbo-petrol, 2.0-litre diesel

Mercedes will launch the all-new generation of its E-Class luxury sedan in India, and like the outgoing version, it will be available in long-wheelbase guise only. The sixth-generation E-Class grows in size, wears a design similar to the flagship S-Class sedan, and gets interior design and features similar to the new C-Class and S-Class. Globally, some models feature the company’s ‘Superscreen’, comprising a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, a 14.4-inch touchscreen infotainment display and a 12.3-inch passenger display. In international markets, it will be sold with four- and six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, all mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. The petrol features a 48V mild-hybrid system to aid performance and efficiency.

New Porsche Panamera

Price: Rs 1.6 crore-2.8 crore
Launch: Late 2024
Engine: 2.9-litre turbo-petrol, 4.0-litre turbo-petrol

With a sleeker style, sharper dynamics and stronger performance, Porsche’s new four-door sports sedan, the Panamera, is likely to be launched in 2024. It will be based on an updated version of the Modular Sport Toolkit (MSB) platform, developed by Porsche and Bentley. The third-gen Panamera will be available with V6 or V8 turbo-petrol engines, with up to four petrol-electric plug-in hybrid powertrains. The range-topping V8 will produce over 650hp, and have a 3.1 second 0-100kph time.

Skoda Superb

Price: Rs 50 lakh
Launch: Late 2023
Engine: 2.0-litre turbo-petrol

Skoda will reintroduce the current-gen Superb sedan in our market in limited numbers, after it was discontinued due to the BS6.2 implementation. The company will introduce it with an updated 190hp, 2.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine, mated to a sole 7-speed DSG gearbox. However, unlike before, the Superb will not be locally assembled in India, but will be imported as a CBU (completely built-up unit). The Czech brand will reintroduce it only in top-spec L&K trim with new features like ADAS that include lane-keeping assist and adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera, a new infotainment system, adaptive chassis control tech, active tyre pressure monitoring system and nine airbags.
