I am looking for a comfortable SUV for 2 people for regular commute. My budget is 20 lakhs and my monthly commute is around 2500km which involves 70% driving on highway and 30% in rural area of Karnataka.

Given your heavy usage, the majority of which is on the highway, we would recommend a diesel SUV. There are quite a few options in this price range, but we narrow it down to the Kia Seltos and the Tata Sierra. In your budget, you will get a mid-range diesel-manual variant of either of these SUVs, and each has its advantages and disadvantages. The Kia Seltos is the better all-rounder, with the more premium cabin, more refined and efficient diesel engine, as well as being easier to drive. The Tata Sierra, however, may feel like better value, thanks to its greater size and space, as well as more effortless diesel engine. Both are very comfortable, but for your largely highway use, the Sierra has the slight edge. With all these factors combined, we think the Tata Sierra Diesel MT is the best choice for you.

Currently, I own a Honda City V CVT. For me, this is the best car. I have driven around 16,000 km in last 2 years. However, now my running has increased to 200 km per day. I find EV more suitable for future. Kindly recommend me a good reliable EV or should I go for a diesel or strong hybrid?

With 200km a day, an EV only makes sense if you have reliable home charging and your usage is mostly predictable. Then too, such high usage will require frequent charging, which in turn will take a toll on battery health sooner, and this affects performance, range and resale value. A diesel or strong hybrid is the more practical choice for your usage - the diesel being better suited to greater highway use, and the hybrid to greater city use. The Kia Seltos diesel automatic is the best all-rounder. It is refined, efficient and will handle your daily mileage with ease. A strong hybrid like the Maruti Suzuki Victoris Hybrid is worth considering if your driving is a mix of city and highway, but at 200km a day, the diesel will still be more cost-effective. The Honda City Hybrid is a good car, but it is not as efficient on the highway as a diesel.

I am planning to buy a new SUV under Rs 30 lakh and am open to both five- and seven-seater options. I have tried the Toyota Innova HyCross non-hybrid, Mahindra XUV 7XO, Hyundai Alcazar, Kia Seltos and Renault Duster, but I am confused about which one to choose. My main priorities are space, comfort and a good engine. My running is not very high, at just under 1,000km a month. Please advise.

Go for the Toyota Innova HyCross non-hybrid. Your priorities are space, comfort and a good engine, and the HyCross delivers on all three. It is one of the most spacious cars in the segment, with a genuinely usable third row and a comfortable ride that makes it an excellent family car. The petrol engine is smooth, refined and well suited to your running of under 1,000 km a month, where the hybrid premium is harder to justify.The Mahindra XUV 7XO is a strong alternative with a more powerful engine and a more feature-rich cabin, but the HyCross has the edge on space, comfort and long-term ownership experience.The Hyundai Alcazar and Kia Seltos are good cars, but they do not offer the same level of space or comfort, and the Renault Duster is more of a driver's car than a family car. The Toyota car mentioned above is the car you will be happiest with after five years of ownership.

There are two school of thoughts to choose between Creta and Seltos For Seltos the argument is like, it's built on the new platform and is safer snd has a better interior but despite that the Creta is a kore tried and tested model. No influencers advocates for Creta in social media perhaps because they won't get commission on a car that sells by itself. But, again there sre opinions that Creta is a great Diesel car bit not a good petrol car. Which automatic car should really be the buyer's choice given the driving will be 90% in NCR.Every major thing matters Mileage, service cost and comfortable interiors and smooth overtaking. Or is there another player in the market that beats them both

The Hyryder is still a good car, but the Elevate is the more complete package for this brief.

I am new to driving and am looking for a sub-4-metre petrol SUV with a torque converter automatic gearbox. My budget is around Rs 12-13 lakh on-road. I have shortlisted two options: the Skoda Kylaq Signature automatic and the Mahindra XUV 3XO MX2 Pro automatic. We are a family of five. My current usage is mostly within the city, but based on my future work requirements, it could shift to an 80:20 mix of city and highway driving.

Go for the Skoda Kylaq Signature AT. For a new driver with predominantly city use, its 1.0 TSI with a 6-speed torque-converter automatic is smooth and easy to drive, while the compact dimensions make it relatively easy to manage in traffic. It also has a more mature, planted feel on the highway.The Mahindra XUV 3XO MX2 Pro AT is the better choice if rear-seat space is the priority. Its cabin is wider and more accommodating for a family of five, and its 1.2 turbo-petrol makes 200Nm, giving it stronger low-end and mid-range performance than the Kylaq.However, the 3XO's boot is also one of its compromises, while the Kylaq offers a better balance of driving dynamics, boot space and highway manners. With your usage potentially becoming 80:20 city/highway, the Kylaq's combination works particularly well.

With your daily running of 15-20 km and occasional 60-70 km trips, a diesel does not make financial sense, and the hybrid will give you significantly better fuel efficiency in city driving than petrol. The Hycross is also the more comfortable and spacious 7-seater, with a proven Toyota ownership experience and lower long-term maintenance costs. The XUV 7XO is the better driver's car, offers more features and has a more premium cabin, but for your usage pattern, the Hycross strong hybrid is the more sensible and hassle-free choice.
