My daughter spends over ₹15,000 per month on petrol. I've advised her to consider switching to an EV. With a maximum budget of around ₹17 lakh, which would be the better choice among the Tata Punch EV, Nexon EV, and MG Comet?

If your daughter likes the look and feel of the Comet EV, it’s a good option for intra-city use. The MG Comet EV on road price in Bangalore is ₹11.27 lakh, so it fits comfortably within your budget. However, given her high monthly fuel spend, she’s likely covering longer distances, and the MG Comet EV’s small range could be restrictive.

The Tata Punch EV and Tata Nexon EV are quite similar and offer a wide choice of variants within your ₹17 lakh budget, but the Nexon EV offers more space and is the better choice. Also worth considering are the MG Windsor Essence or Windsor Exclusive variants, which could offer better value for money at your price point.

I am planning to buy a mid-size SUV mainly for city use within a budget of ₹14–16 lakh in the next 6–7 months. My priorities are long-term ownership (10–15 years), premium interiors, a punchy engine, and good driving performance. I am considering the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq (1.0 TSI), and the Renault Duster (1.3 MT). Which one would you recommend as the best balance of reliability, driving enjoyment, and interior quality? Also, is it worth waiting for the Creta facelift or any upcoming models?

If it fits in your budget, go for the Kia Seltos, as it meets most of your broad set of requirements. Kias are known to be reliable enough for prolonged usage. The Seltos has a spacious and well-appointed premium interior that looks and feels upmarket. It's also pretty fun to drive, especially if you opt for the 160hp 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine. The new-gen Hyundai Creta is coming in 2027 and might be worth waiting for, but you will get most of what it offers in the Seltos available today. However, as you've pointed out, it might be worth moving a segment lower to get more for your money, in which case we'd recommend the Hyundai Venue. It offers much of what the Seltos offers, including reliability, features and high-quality interior - albeit in a smaller form factor at a more affordable price. If reliability trumps all else, consider a Maruti Suzuki compact SUV like the Brezza or the Fronx.

I booked for the Renault R-pass but planning to cancel due to the rear comfort. But litttle confused between Kia Seltos HTK(O) 1.5 NA Petrol MT and Renault Duster Techno 1.3 Turbo Petrol MT as they both are similar price around 17.5 lakhs on road thought I need to spend some more on duster to add Leather seat cover, front sensor, spare wheel, etc. My usage will be mostly in City and sometimes on a family trip to Hill station or through Highway. I have test driven both, the duster felt more power and Kia Seltos was comfort. I m planning to buy this car on my office leased car option, so will be selling them after 4 years anyway. Help me clarify which one to buy. I m looking for a family car with good resale value after 4 years.

Since you already felt the Kia Seltos was more comfortable, we would recommend you go ahead with it, as it does have a more spacious and comfy rear seat experience. The Renault Duster offers a more engaging drive experience, and it excels on highways and twisty mountain ghats; however, since your driving is mostly in the city, this is not something that you would be able to appreciate. The Seltos is easy to drive in traffic with light controls and good all-around visibility. Furthermore, Kia’s service network is wider, and previous generation Seltos' have good resale value.

I am planning to choose between the Toyota Innova Hycross GX Optional petrol and the Kia Carens petrol mid-variant. Please suggest which would be a better option for daily office commutes in Bangalore and occasional long trips. Also, what is the real-world mileage of both cars?

Opt for the Toyota Innova Hycross GX (O ) petrol CVT for your Bangalore office runs and the odd long trip; it is smooth, very comfortable, and easy to live with over many years. In daily traffic, it feels calm and stress-free thanks to a smooth CVT automatic. The high seat and big glass area make it easy to see out, and on weekend trips, your family will enjoy the space and ride comfort. Toyota service in Bangalore is also strong, so upkeep is simple. One thing to be aware of: the Innova is a large car, so tight basement parking and narrow lanes will need some care, and this non-hybrid petrol will use more fuel in stop-go traffic than a small car. If most days you drive alone, park in tight places, and want lower daily fuel use, the Kia Carens Clavis petrol mid variant will suit you better because it is smaller and lighter to drive.
