Hello, I’m looking to buy a fully loaded, feature-rich full-size SUV, and I’m willing to wait for the right option. The Hyundai Palisade is a very tempting choice, but it seems like it may not arrive in India until 2028. Would it be worth waiting for, or are there other good options under Rs 60 lakh that I should consider?

Yes the Hyundai Palisade is still sometime away and you could be looking at a wait time of over a year. Currently in this price bracket, and looking at your requirement of a loaded, premium-feeling SUV with a strong feature set, the Kia Sorento is a very good option. It offers a comfy and well built cabin, a rich feature list and a premium ownership experience, while still being a very capable and comfortable family SUV. The top end Sorento will also very comfortably fit within your budget and would make a far more realistic and satisfying purchase today.

The other good option is the Skoda Kodiaq, which is also a very well built and premium feeling SUV, you need not opt for the RS version which is above your budget and is setup up for driving pleasure with its more powerful engine output. Opt for the L&K trim instead which is well equipped and within budget.

Hi, I am 72 years old and looking at a final upgrade to my current car, a Kia Seltos GTX. Although both of us currently drive, I would also like the option of being chauffeur-driven in the future, if required. Therefore, rear-seat comfort and safety are important considerations. My annual driving is around 8,000km, including approximately 4-6 medium-distance trips. I would appreciate suggestions on upcoming launches in 2027. Would an EV or a hybrid make sense for my usage? Home charging will be available at our new home from mid-2027. I would prefer a mid-size, high-riding SUV that offers easy ingress and egress, along with comprehensive ADAS and parking assistance features. My budget is around Rs 50 lakh, with some flexibility. With a budget of around Rs 50 lakh, there are some interesting options worth considering. In the hybrid space, the upcoming JSW Combat, based on the Jetour T2, would be one of the more interesting options. It should offer a distinctive design, a high seating position, a premium cabin, plenty of features and strong performance. Its plug-in hybrid powertrain could also make good sense given your relatively low annual running and the availability of home charging from mid-2027.If you prefer a more conventional luxury SUV, the Skoda Kodiaq is another option worth considering. It offers a comfortable, spacious cabin and a more traditional SUV experience, although it does not offer a hybrid powertrain.

I own a 2013 Maruti Swift petrol, which still runs well in Bangalore traffic. I am planning to buy a second car that is spacious and comfortable for five people, or a fun-to-drive seven-seater. I am confused between electric, hybrid and diesel options, as the new car will mainly be used for road trips, with a monthly running of around 1,000-1,200 km. Good service connectivity and reasonable maintenance costs are also important to me. My budget is around Rs 30-35 lakh. Could you suggest some cars I should consider? Also, are there any upcoming models expected in 2026 that would be worth waiting for?

Considering your requirements, the Mahindra XUV 7XO would be a good choice. Given your running of around 12,000-14,000 a year, buying a petrol variant would be idea as the diesel would be too expensive to justify the premium over the petrol version.In your budget, you can get the top-spec AX7 L that comes loaded with all the bells and whistles and tech you miss even on cars a segment above. The 7XO's highlight, however, is how it drives and rides. The engine is powerful, the suspension is excellent, and handling is genuinely impressive for its size. Plus, its third row is also surprisingly spacious, offering more room than the more premium Skoda Kodiaq and Volkswagen Tayron. Mahindra also has a wider service network, which should meet your requirements for service connectivity.

Is the Kia Sorento an equivalent alternative to the Toyota Innova Hycross? I want a petrol hybrid, and my maximum on-road budget is Rs. 40 lakh.

Yes the hybrid versions of the Toyota Innova Hycross and Kia Sorento can be considered equivalents. We have yet to bring the two for a back to back comparison but between the two this Kia car would come off as the more luxurious one and also have the edge on the equipment front. The Toyota rear captain seats have the ottoman-style fold out legrest so if this is important to you, have a look and see how comfy you are seated there. As for your budget, both cars would fit. We would thus recommend you take a test drive of both before you decide.

I am planning to buy the top-end Hyundai Creta Turbo Petrol DCT variant. My daily running is around 50–100km, which adds up to approximately 25,000–30,000km annually. I am looking for a car that offers strong performance and quick acceleration, along with a comprehensive set of comfort and convenience features. Should I buy the current Creta Turbo Petrol DCT top variant or wait for the 2027 Creta? For context, I currently own a 2024 Maruti Suzuki Dzire Hybrid and a Volkswagen Virtus GT 1.5 TSI.

The 2027 Hyundai New Creta will be thoroughly updated inside-out, and it'll have more tech and features. If you don't mind waiting, it makes sense to get the 2027 new-gen model. Do note, its powertrain options are likely to be carried forward from the current version. If you can't wait, but still want the performance as well as the latest in terms of tech and features, consider the Kia Seltos turbo-dct instead, which packs in more or less everything the next-gen Creta is likely to offer.

Which SUV would you pick for a family of 5?

I’m planning to buy a new car, and my annual running is around 40,000km, primarily involving highway drives and ghat sections. I have shortlisted the Kia Seltos Diesel HTX and the upcoming facelifted Toyota Innova Hycross ZX. I’m considering two approaches: either buy the Innova Hycross and keep it for the next 10 years, given its reputation for longevity and the expectation that its engine can last at least 4 lakh kilometres, or buy the Seltos, drive it for around 2 lakh kilometres over 4–5 years, sell it and upgrade to a brand-new Seltos or another car of a similar price and size. On paper, the Innova Hycross Hybrid seems like the better choice, considering its long-term reliability and features such as the Ottoman reclining seats. However, I’m concerned that I might get bored of it after four years or that it may start feeling outdated as newer technologies and features enter the market. This makes the second option appealing, as it would allow me to upgrade to a brand-new car every 4–5 years. Which approach would make more sense in the long run, considering my high annual running and ownership costs?

It seems like you're leaning towards the Kia Seltos Diesel HTX, and we think it is a good choice. The diesel engine feels adequately powered for highway usage and ghat driving, and it is likely to return respectable efficiency too. Moreover, despite being modern with all the latest tech and features, the Seltos will be substantially more affordable than the Toyota Innova Hycross hybrid. So unless you need the Innova's extra space, or you frequently travel with six or seven passengers, the Kia Seltos diesel is your best bet.
