I currently drive a Kia Carens iMT diesel, with monthly running of around 1,000km. About 820km, or 82%, is in the city, while the remaining 180km is on the highway. Most of my city trips are short, often just 2-4 km, with speeds generally below 40-50kph. The car is chauffeur-driven six days a week and usually carries my family of five: my wife, mother, son and daughter. My priorities are clear: excellent ride comfort over Chennai's potholes and broken roads, very comfortable seating for five adults, especially in the second row, minimal lateral and fore-aft body movement over bad roads, good low-speed manoeuvrability, a quiet and smooth drivetrain, low running and total ownership costs over five years, and enough boot space for shopping and family luggage. My son is already 5'7" at 14 and is still growing, so I don't want to compromise on his seating comfort. My maximum budget is Rs 27 lakh on-road in Chennai. I don't particularly value ADAS, sunroofs or touchscreen-heavy controls and prefer physical controls and a car that is fundamentally comfortable rather than gadget-heavy. I am not really looking for a seven-seater. I want a car that can carry five people in genuine, long-term comfort, with the flexibility of a seven-seater when required. Given that 82% of my usage is short-distance urban driving, ride quality, low-speed comfort, easy manoeuvrability, second-row space and low running costs matter more to me than outright performance or highway dynamics. Which car would suit me best?

The claimed range figures are based on the official MIDC test cycle, which is a laboratory test and not a real-world figure. The Mahindra XEV 9S and MG Hector Tomahawk EV are very different cars. I have taken a test drive of both Sierra and the 9s. I have a few observations with my perspective. 1. I have been using a Baleno for 10 years and when I sat in the sierra it was a significant upgrade but I felt it a lot cluttered. It dint feel spacious in the front. The rear was good at space and would be comfortable then most of the cars in its segment. 2. The car was good to drive be it the pick up, handling and ride. It was good. 3. When I returned to the show room it was parked next to a harrier ev. If you observe harrier ev is one of the wildest cars with in the 30 lakhs bracket and is even wider than the ICE versions. This made the Sierra look very small and this was a deal breaker for me where I was looking for presence when I spend this budget. I took a test drive of the 9s and it has ticked all the boxes interms of performance, premium appeal, felt spacious both the rows. Has been practical with a spacious frunk and felt I was driving a big car for the money spent. I have finally booked a 9s pack 3. Thank you for the inputs shared and this has been my buying experience.

I am planning to buy a 7-seater car. My daily running is approximately 15-20 km, with occasional trips of 60-70 km once a week. I have shortlisted two cars based on my preferences: the Innova Hycross and XUV 7XO. I am confused between the two. Go for the Toyota Innova Hycross strong hybrid. With your daily running of 15-20 km and occasional 60-70 km trips, a diesel does not make financial sense, and the hybrid will give you significantly better fuel efficiency in city driving than petrol. The Hycross is also the more comfortable and spacious 7-seater, with a proven Toyota ownership experience and lower long-term maintenance costs. The XUV 7XO is the better driver's car, offers more features and has a more premium cabin, but for your usage pattern, the Hycross strong hybrid is the more sensible and hassle-free choice.

Help me choose the right car for my usage. Please be practical and challenge my assumptions. My situation: I am 31 and work as a software developer. I currently work from home in Balsane, Dhule, but I am moving to Mumbai around March. My wife and I are expecting a baby in February. My parents live in a village where local transport is poor. The AC is usually on, and on long trips, the car will have my wife, baby, and luggage. Budget: Rs. 6-9 lakh on-road. I am willing to spend more only if it is genuinely worth it. Shortlist: - Tiago XE Petrol - Punch Pure+/Smart Petrol - Punch Pure+/Smart CNG - Brezza LXi turbo-petrol Please tell me: 1. Which one should I buy and why? 2. Petrol vs CNG for my usage? The CNG premium is around Rs. 1 lakh, and the nearby village pump may open around Diwali, but this is not guaranteed. 3. What real-world mileage can I expect with the AC on? 4. Please consider loan interest, fuel costs, maintenance, depreciation, and resale value. 5. Is the Brezza worth the extra money? 6. Give me one final choice and tell me what I should avoid.

The Brezza LXI Turbo is far superior to the Punch and Tiago as far as smoothness, performance, and cabin space are concerned. It is also backed by Maruti's widespread support network, and the ownership experience is likely to be fuss-free. The on-road cost of the Brezza LXI will fall within your Rs 9 lakh budget, and even though you might miss a few features, it still feels worth opting for. Alternatively, you could also consider the Maruti Dzire VXI MT for its large boot, comfy ride and strong fuel efficiency.
