Any recommendations for an MPV EV within 18 Lakhs in Bangalore? Mainly city drive with yearly twice or thrice out of station, max 500 Kms.

For under Rs 18 lakh (on-road), there is no true 6/7-seat electric MPV on sale today. The closest fit that meets your needs well is the Kia Carens Clavis EV, though it will be a little above Rs 20 lakh on-road in Bengaluru.

The smaller 42kWh battery should provide enough range for your city-heavy driving, but outstation trips will require a charging stop or two. It is easy to park, feels smooth and quiet, and handles broken roads well. It also has good space for a family, with a genuinely usable third row and a big boot for airport runs.

If you want a more affordable 5-seater alternative, then the MG Windsor is a good choice too as an MPV. Overall, the Kia Carens Clavis EV is your best bet for an electric MPV in this price range.

The MG ZS EV has been around since 2021, and it has barely been updated since. As of today, there are far more modern, better equipped, and more efficient electric cars available in the market. So even though the pricing is attractive, we'd advise you to consider a newer car instead. For Rs. 18.5 lakh on-road, you can consider the Kia Syros EV, Vinfast VF6, Tata Curvv EV, or even the MG Windsor.

It offers a real-world range of around 300km from its 45kWh battery, which gives you plenty of buffer for your daily usage, and it comes with front ventilated seats in the Empowered+ trim. The Nexon EV is also one of the most proven EVs on the market, with a strong service network and good ownership experience. The only thing to keep in mind is that the boot is on the smaller side, so if you regularly carry a lot of luggage, it is worth checking if it meets your needs. Overall, it is the most practical and well-rounded EV in your budget.

I am confused between Taigun 1.5 Sport and Seltos Diesel X-Line top model. I have owned the Polo AT and Vento AT in the past, so my love for Volkswagen is making this decision difficult.

Go for the Volkswagen Taigun 1.5 TSI Sport. Coming from a Polo and Vento automatic, you already appreciate Volkswagen’s driving DNA, and the Taigun 1.5 TSI is a natural progression. The engine is punchy, the DSG gearbox is quick and engaging, and the overall driving experience is far more involving than the Seltos. The Taigun also feels more compact and agile in the city, while still being comfortable on the highway. The Volkswagen Taigun mileage is 19.54 kpl for the 1.0 TSI AT, 19.98 kpl for the 1.0 TSI MT, and 18.85 kpl for the 1.5 TSI DCT.The Kia Seltos diesel X-Line is a strong all-rounder with better space, a more premium cabin and a more relaxed long-distance character, but it does not offer the same level of driver engagement. The diesel engine is efficient and torquey, but it lacks the excitement of the 1.5 TSI. With 5,000-7,000 km a year and mostly city driving, you are the ideal EV buyer. The Mahindra XEV 9S in its top-spec Pack Three guise will comfortably fit in your budget. With a 79kWh battery pack, you can easily expect a real-world range of around 480km in daily driving conditions. The 9S is also a full-size SUV with three rows, so practicality is excellent. There is a usable frunk as well, and the feature list is extensive with connected tech, panoramic sunroof, front and rear ventilated seats, drive modes, Level 2 ADAS and much more.
