I'm looking to buy my first car. Although I have good experience in driving cars, this will be my first own car. We are a family of 4 + 1 kid living in Kolkata and have a relocatable job (mostly in tier 1/2 cities). I'm looking for a long-term car (5+ years). Monthly, I need to drive ~500kms and 3/4 long drives in a year. Preferably automatic, as monthly 500kms are inside the city. Had evaluated Kylaq, Elevate, 3X0 and Brezza. Now with the Sierra and MG Hector 2026 models, I'm completely lost. Suggest

Since this is your first car, it's best to play it safe and go with a trusted brand you know will be reliable and cost-effective. The Maruti Suzuki Brezza, though not an exciting car, will best suit your needs. It is pretty spacious, has a smooth automatic option and is reasonably well-equipped.
If your budget allows, consider the Honda Elevate, which is more spacious than the Brezza and hence more comfortable for your 4+1 family. It has a bigger boot too. If you are relocated to a Tier 2 city, the Brezza will benefit from Maruti Suzukis extensive dealer network.

I am looking to buy a new car under ₹25 lakh. I prefer an 8-seater layout and do not want a hybrid. A simple petrol engine with a CVT or torque converter automatic is preferred.

The only 8-seater option in the market is the Toyota Innova HyCross GX O, powered by a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and CVT. This Toyota car is much more spacious and comfortable than any seven-seater available at a similar price.

I am a 50-year-old woman looking for a mini SUV with a budget of up to ₹8.5 lakh. We currently own an XL6 as our family car and are looking for a second car for me. My daily driving is around 10 to 15 km, with occasional highway trips. I want something comfortable and efficient.

The Maruti Suzuki Fronx is a great option because of its refined and efficient engine and smooth gearbox. Alternatively, you could look at the Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor, which is essentially a rebadged Fronx. The Hyundai Exter is also an option you could consider for its smoothness and overall user-friendliness.

I'm looking to buy a car with a budget of 10 lakh. I'm confused about the available options and would appreciate a suggestion for an automatic vehicle with good fuel efficiency. I plan to drive approximately 500 km per month.

Given your requirements, you could consider the Maruti Suzuki Fronx or Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor. Both these share their 1.2-litre petrol engine and 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT), which is a smooth, refined, and efficient powertrain. If you are open to a sedan, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire 1.2-litre petrol-AMT is another excellent option, which offers excellent cabin space and even better fuel efficiency.

I have been using a BMW 3 GT for many years and am now planning to buy a new SUV with a budget of around ₹70 to 80 lakh. My daily commute is approximately 70 km. Could you please advise on the best option available today?

Since your daily commute is as much as 70km, you should consider a diesel luxury SUV, and there are two good options in this price range. The BMW X3 is more engaging to drive, and since you have already owned a BMW car, you will likely be familiar with the brand's aftersales and service ecosystem, and could even talk to your dealership about a loyalty benefit. However, overall, the better SUV is the Mercedes-Benz GLC. It offers a more luxurious cabin, rear seat space, and a comfortable ride. Plus, while not quite as engaging to drive as the BMW, it's still a lot of fun from behind the wheel.
