I am looking for a 7-seater petrol automatic with a price range of approximately ₹20-22 lakh (+/-10%). I plan to keep the car long term and am not keen on top-spec variants or gimmicky features. Please suggest suitable options.

If you are looking for a no-nonsense, spacious 7-seater petrol, you can opt for the Toyota Innova HyCross, the Petrol GX 7 Seat variant. It is in your budget. It is a proper 7-seater car, with all three rows usable by adults as well.
Toyota cars are known for their reliability, so keeping the car for the long term won't be a problem. The only downside is that the HyCross Petrol is not particularly known for fuel efficiency. If you want better fuel efficiency, you can look at the Kia Carens Clavis Turbo Petrol DCT.

I am writing to ask for advice for the third time. Age 61. Monthly travel is 800-1,000km, sometimes more. Mostly travel to work and back, plus occasional outstation holiday trips. Outstation long-distance trips may increase in the coming years. I am looking for a reliable and comfortable 5 or 7-seater with good luggage space and good mileage. The vehicle can be petrol, hybrid, diesel or other. It is important that service in case of a breakdown is available across India. Budget up to Rs 35 lakh. Please guide.

The Toyota Innova HyCross hybrid or Maruti Suzuki Invicto hybrid are your best bets. These cars have an efficient hybrid powertrain that's likely to deliver around 13kpl in the city and 16kpl on the highway. Moreover, getting in and out is quite easy, the seats are comfortable, and the boot space is plenty. Also, despite being large cars, these are surprisingly easy to drive due to their light steering and good visibility.Lastly, both Toyota and Maruti have stellar reputations for their after-sales service and reliability, so you're likely to enjoy a trouble-free ownership experience by opting for either of these two.

Hi, I need recommendations for a 6 or 7-seater SUV under Rs 20 lakh for our family (no kids). I don’t mind buying lower-end models too. The car probably won’t be used on a daily basis but will be used mostly in the city, so mileage is a concern. Comfort is also a top priority since we love weekend getaways or trips to the mountains. Thanks in advance.

The Kia Carens Clavis is a good option to consider for your requirements. It is spacious, has room even in the last row for adults and comes with a diesel engine that will be better in terms of fuel efficiency than a petrol. It is an able highway cruiser and is quite easy to drive in the city too, thanks to its light steering. If you are fine with a manual gearbox, the HTK+ (O) will offer a lot of features like sunroof, wireless charging and cruise control. If it is an automatic that you want, then the HTK+ will fit within your budget. This varinant get a 6-speed torque converter automatic that is smooth to shift. The Clavis also has a comfy ride, and it fares well on broken roads. Ground clearance is plenty, too, and you will not have to worry about speed bumps along the way.
