We are planning to buy a Hyundai Exter HX8, but we are confused about whether we should buy a petrol automatic or a CNG manual, as our daily running is about 38 to 42 km. And my wife also wants to drive, but she is not confident with a manual car. Also, for the daily commute, we mostly use our scooty, and we mostly use our car in the rainy season and on special occasions.

Your average daily running of 40km and a monthly running of 1200km isn't much to justify the premium you would pay for a Hyundai Exter CNG over the petrol-manual version. On the other hand, the AMT gets you the convenience of an automatic without compromising fuel efficiency significantly (compared to the manual version), so it is certainly worth paying for; even more so, since your wife isn't comfortable driving a manual.

If you're open to other options and absolutely want CNG along with the convenience of an automatic, consider the Tata Punch CNG AMT or the Maruti Baleno CNG AMT.

I recently sold my Ford EcoSport due to spare parts availability issues and am now looking to buy a new car. My priorities are a sub-4-metre car within a budget of Rs 7.5 lakh. We are a family of four adults and one child, and since we are used to the spacious rear seat of the EcoSport, I am looking for a car that offers similar cabin space and comfort. I considered the Tata Punch, but concerns about Tata's after-sales service and service centre experience have made me hesitant. Are there any other cars that would meet my requirements? I'd appreciate recommendations, especially for a spacious family car that offers reliable after-sales support and is suitable for long-term ownership.

Given your budget of Rs 7.5 lakh and the need for a spacious rear seat, the Tata Punch is actually one of the best options in the segment. It offers a surprisingly roomy cabin for its size, a comfortable ride and a robust build, which makes it a very practical family car. Your concern about Tata service is understandable, but it is worth noting that Tata is making improvements in its service network and overall ownership experience. If you are still hesitant about Tata, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza is the alternative we would recommend. It is one of the most spacious sub-4-metre SUVs, with a wide rear bench that comfortably accommodates three passengers. Maruti's service network is the most extensive in the country, and ownership costs are generally low. The only drawback is that the Brezza's starting price is slightly above your stated budget, so you may need to stretch a little.Overall, the Punch remains the best fit for your requirements, but the Brezza is the safer long-term ownership choice.
