I am looking for a compact SUV in the Rs.10-12 lakh range, although I can stretch the budget if needed. I prefer a petrol automatic. I am based in Noida and have a family of four. My daily running is around 50-60 km, including both expressway and city driving. This will be our main car, so comfort, reliability, and safety are important priorities. My current shortlist includes Maruti Suzuki Brezza (should I wait for the facelift or not?), Hyundai Venue, Hyundai Exter, Mahindra XUV 3XO and Skoda Kylaq. I am also open to exploring other options.

For your use case, we would narrow this down quickly to the Brezza automatic, Skoda Kylaq automatic and XUV 3XO automatic, with a slight lean toward the Brezza.

The reason is simple. You are doing 50 to 60 km daily, this is your main family car, and comfort, reliability and stress free ownership matter. The Brezza automatic may not be the most exciting car here, but it is one of the most rounded. The seating comfort is good, the ride handles bad roads well enough, the petrol automatic is dependable and Maruti’s ownership experience is hard to fault for a 10 year horizon. It is also easy to drive in city traffic and still relaxed enough on the expressway. As for waiting for the facelift, yes, the update is expected soon, so if you are not in a hurry, it is worth holding on a little.

The Kylaq automatic is the more premium and more enjoyable option to drive. The torque converter automatic is smooth, the 1.0 turbo petrol feels strong and it has a solid build. But long term reliability and ownership costs will not be as stress free as the Brezza.

The XUV 3XO automatic is the value packed option. It feels substantial, has strong safety credentials and the torque converter automatic is genuinely smooth. But the boot is small for a family of four, which matters in a main car.

I’m looking to buy the Citroen Aircross X 5-seater automatic, but I’m not completely convinced because of Citroen’s after-sales service and parts availability. If I don’t go for the Aircross, I will have to consider smaller cars such as the Kylaq or Venue, as my budget is Rs. 16 lakh at most. Go for the Citroen Aircross X 5-seater automatic. This Citroen car is a genuinely comfortable long-distance car with a spacious cabin and a very absorbent ride. The discounts make it excellent value, and you are getting a larger, more comfortable car for the same money as a smaller SUV like the Kylaq or Venue. Citroen's service network is not as extensive as Maruti, Hyundai or Kia, but it is improving, and the Aircross X is not a complex car. If you are in a major city, service and parts availability should not be a deal-breaker. The Kylaq and Venue are both good cars, but they are smaller and less comfortable on long highway runs. The Aircross X is the better fit for your usage and budget.

Which car should I buy among Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Petrol base or Kia Seltos petrol base? And also tell me if anyone has faced power issue or pickup issue while overtaking as I want the car for long term.

Between the two, the Seltos is the better choice, especially if you are looking at the base variant. It feels more premium, is the newer product and offers a more complete package even in its lower variants.The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol makes 115hp and 144Nm. It isn't a particularly powerful engine, but it is smooth and refined and is perfectly adequate for normal city driving.For overtaking, it won't have the punch of the Seltos turbo, but it isn't underpowered either. With a full load and during quick highway overtakes, you may need to plan ahead and use higher revs. The Grand Vitara's 1.5 petrol is also a smooth, simple powertrain, but its performance is more relaxed and the base variant is quite sparsely equipped.
