I am an automobile enthusiast and have been an Autocar reader/subscriber since 2003. I have owned several cars throughout the years, from my first car that was a Maruti 800 to a Volvo C70 Convertible from when I was in USA. We are planning to buy an exotic, head-turning car for my father within Rs 1 crore. We already own a Toyota Fortuner, Mercedes E-class, BMW X1 and a Hyundai Creta. Which one would you advice in between the Mercedes SLC AMG 43, Porsche Cayman, and the Range Rover Velar? Value for money is a priority.

It’s nice to know you’ve been an Autocar reader for many years and we appreciate and value your support. Coming to your shortlist of cars, we would rule out the Velar because you already have a Fortuner, which is very practical and serves your everyday motoring needs. The Velar, though a stunning design both inside and out, is a bit overpriced for what you get. And, however good it looks, it won’t turn heads like a sleek sportscar would. This brings us to the Mercedes SLC AMG 43 and Porsche Cayman. Between these two sportscars, the Cayman has a better pedigree and over the years will hold its price better. The Cayman is quite user-friendly as an everyday car too and like most Porsches, is pretty reliable.
