Hi Autocar India, I recently booked the Maruti Suzuki Brezza LXi Turbo. With a budget of ₹Rs 8–9 lakh, I chose the base variant and plan to add a music system and rear camera later. This is my first new car, and my monthly running will be around 1,000–1,200 km, mostly highway commuting. I chose the Brezza Turbo over the Hyundai Exter HX4 because it offers better value, is a segment above, and suits my highway usage and preference for a higher seating position. I have two questions: First, should I be concerned about the turbo engine with increasing ethanol blending, as some reviewers advise against it? Second, I prefer a simple, low-maintenance car and only need a music system and rear camera apart from the standard LXi features. Can these be installed after a few months in the aftermarket without affecting the warranty, assuming the factory wiring and connectors are already provided? I am open to any other car suggestions that suit my needs if Brezza is not advisable.

You have made a sensible choice with the Maruti Suzuki Brezza LXi Turbo given your budget and usage. The Brezza will offer you the low maintenance motoring that you want, and since your commute is mostly on highways, the extra power from the turbo will come in handy. Turbo petrols are sensitive to driving style and can very easily be fuel inefficient, especially in the city, but again with your driving mostly on the highway, this should not be that nig of a worry. As for your concerns on E20, all engines today are engineered to handle E20 fuel and most manufacturers including Maruti, have stated that there is a material compatibility tolerance level built in for a slightly higher blend too.

As for the music system and rear camera, yes, these can be installed in the aftermarket and generally dealers do not create a warranty issue around this; however, strictly speaking, it can be viewed as grounds for voiding a warranty, especially if the component affected is related to the accessory installed. Thus, if you are worried, then Maruti Suzuki car dealers can also fit these accessories later, which is the safest route from a warranty perspective.

At Rs 8-10 lakh, there are no hybrid cars available in India. The only options in this price range are mild hybrids, which offer a small efficiency boost but do not provide the fuel savings or electric-only driving of a proper strong hybrid system. If you are specifically looking for a hybrid with a sunroof, you will need to increase your budget to around Rs 20 lakh or more, where cars like the Maruti Suzuki Victoris Hybrid, Grand Vitara Hybrid and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder Hybrid become available. These are proper strong hybrids and are among the most efficient cars in India today.If your budget is fixed at Rs 8-10 lakh, the best approach is to focus on a good mild hybrid car with a sunroof, such as the Maruti Suzuki Fronx or Brezza. If space is not the highest priority, get the Fronx, as it is better value for money, giving you more features for your money. The Brezza, however, has more interior space, more powerful engines and a 5-star Bharat NCAP crash test rating, so it could be the better choice.But then your other requirement - a sunroof - will not be met by either of these, as Maruti only offers this feature in higher variants. So if that is of the highest priority, check out a petrol car like the Hyundai i20, Tata Punch or Kia Sonet. Hi, I had planned to buy the Brezza Facelift 1.5 VXI MT and install the necessary accessories after delivery, with a budget of Rs. 12 lakh. However, I am now also considering the Creta 1.5 MT base model or the Kia Seltos base model. The on-road price of the Creta is Rs. 13.61 lakh, while the Seltos costs Rs. 13.72 lakh. Since there is a price difference of about Rs. 1.60 lakh between the Brezza and these two models, I am weighing my options. Would upgrading be a good idea? If so, which one should I choose between the Creta base model or the Seltos base model? Thanks.

If Rs. 1.6-1.7 lakh price difference isn't too much of a stretch for you, then get the entry-level Kia Seltos 1.5 Petrol. It feels far more modern, and more premium than the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, and besides being more spacious, even in its base-spec packs most of the essential features you'd expect at this price.

The choice really comes down to your usage and what you value in the car. If you need more space for both passengers and luggage and have a few long drives that you would undertake, then opt for the Tata Sierra. This Tata car is much larger and has a very spacious interior. The ride quality is also very good over both bad city roads as well as high highway speeds. If, however, your usage is mainly going to be within the city, then the Kia Syros is the better buy. Its compact footprint will be much easier to manage while driving congested streets, and finding parking would be easier. You would also enjoy the top variant of the Kia car and its features.

After going through all the reviews and discussions, I have shortlisted the Tata Nexon EV Empowered 45 and the Mahindra XUV 3XO EV AX7L. Please suggest which one would be the better choice.

Go for the Mahindra XUV 3XO EV AX7L. The Tata Nexon Empowered 45 is a strong product, but the XUV 3XO EV is the better all-rounder. It is the more spacious car, with a wider rear seat and a more comfortable cabin for five passengers. The ride quality is also better, and the car feels more premium overall. The Tata car mentioned above is still a good choice, but the XUV 3XO EV is the more complete package.

I am confused between Taigun 1.5 Sport and Seltos Diesel X-Line top model. I have owned the Polo AT and Vento AT in the past, so my love for Volkswagen is making this decision difficult.

Go for the Volkswagen Taigun 1.5 TSI Sport. Coming from a Polo and Vento automatic, you already appreciate Volkswagen’s driving DNA, and the Taigun 1.5 TSI is a natural progression. The engine is punchy, the DSG gearbox is quick and engaging, and the overall driving experience is far more involving than the Seltos. The Taigun also feels more compact and agile in the city, while still being comfortable on the highway.The Kia Seltos diesel X-Line is a strong all-rounder with better space, a more premium cabin and a more relaxed long-distance character, but it does not offer the same level of driver engagement. The diesel engine is efficient and torquey, but it lacks the excitement of the 1.5 TSI. Given your history with Volkswagen cars, the Taigun will simply feel more familiar and more enjoyable to drive every day.
