Hello, I am planning to buy a new car. I am looking at an SUV, and my budget is around Rs 30 lakh. My previous car was a Jeep Compass Petrol AT, and I absolutely loved its build quality, solid feel on highways, and driving dynamics. My priorities are: 1. Petrol (must have) 2. Driving: 7,000-10,000km/year 3. 5- or 7-seater, both are fine 4. SUV with good ground clearance 5. Mix of city and highway driving 6. Automatic transmission (TC or DCT, both are fine). Final two choices: 1. XUV 7XO AX7 T Petrol AT 2. Tata Harrier Fearless Ultra Petrol AT. Which one should I pick?

Go for the Tata Harrier. Coming from a Jeep Compass, you clearly value a solid, planted feel and good driving dynamics, and the Harrier delivers that in a more complete package. The newly introduced 1.5-litre turbo-petrol is strong and refined, the automatic gearbox is smooth, and the Land Rover-derived chassis feels well sorted on highways. It also offers a more spacious and versatile cabin, better rear-seat comfort and a more mature ownership experience. It also offers a more comfortable ride overall.
The Mahindra XUV 7XO is a good car with a strong turbo-petrol engine and a genuinely premium feel, but the engine is a heavy drinker, especially with the auto gearbox. Overall, given your usage, the Harrier edges ahead as the better choice for you.
