Hyundai Creta GNCAP safety

I currently use a Volkswagen Polo, and I have shortlisted the Hyundai Creta as a potential upgrade. However, I am on the fence about my decision due to the pre-facelift’s 3-star crash-test rating.

Arun, Bengaluru

Autocar India says: The Hyundai Creta is a solid choice and an excellent all-round family car. The 1.5 CVT variant is all the car you’ll need, delivering smooth and effortless performance, a spacious and comfortable cabin, and a feature-rich experience.

Regarding the 3-star GNCAP safety rating, while crash-test scores are an important factor, they don’t reflect all real-world crash scenarios. The Creta comes equipped with essential safety features, and we don’t consider it to be unduly unsafe. If the car meets your needs in terms of space, features and drivability, the 3-star rating alone shouldn’t be a dealbreaker.

Given your upgrade from a Volkswagen Polo, you’ll find the Creta significantly more refined, comfortable and versatile for daily use and long drives. If you prioritise a higher safety rating, you could consider alternatives like the Volkswagen Taigun or the Skoda Kushaq. However, for a well-rounded, practical and feature-packed SUV, the Creta remains a compelling option.
