I'm looking to purchase the X47 Crossover (base variant) for my daily office commute and occasional medium/long weekend rides. My daily running is around 28 km, and I frequently encounter bumper-to-bumper traffic. My primary reasons for choosing this bike are to reduce fuel costs and have a capable motorcycle that is easy to handle in city traffic. However, I’m concerned about the software glitches and mapping issues reported by some owners. Is the Ultraviolette X47 Crossover a good choice for my requirements? Also, please suggest some petrol alternatives that would suit my usage. Thanks in advance!

The Ultraviolette X-47 base variant is a well-rounded option for your needs, and it will definitely not only reduce your running and maintenance costs, but also the effort needed to ride a motorcycle in stop-and-go traffic since there's no clutch to modulate or gears to shift.

Coming to the software glitches and navigation issues, while Ultraviolette has made progress with updates and bug fixes that are usually quick, you could still face occasional niggles on such a tech-heavy machine. If absolute reliability and zero fuss are your top priorities, a petrol alternative like the TVS Apache RTX 300 or Hero Xpulse 210 is worth considering.

It will all hinge on what sort of riding experience you prefer and whether you really are ready to make the switch to an Electric bike. A test ride of all three should help you make your decision.

I am thinking of buying the Honda NX500 E-Clutch, but the Rebel 500 E-Clutch is also expected to launch this year, with localisation. Should I wait until the NX500 E-Clutch is localised, possibly by the first quarter of 2027? Will it be manufactured locally?

So far, Honda hasn't announced any plans to localise the NX500 E-Clutch, and in fact, even the Rebel 500 E-Clutch isn't fully localised yet. Its engine is still entirely imported. Considering that the Rebel 500 has yet to receive a price tag and its deliveries are certainly some time away, you can put to bed any notions of the NX500 being localised anytime soon.

Hi Autocar, I want to buy a bike. I'm 6ft tall and want something that won't cause leg or back pain. Which should I choose: the Honda Unicorn, Yamaha FZ V4, Yamaha XSR 155, or any other bike? Please advise.

The Honda Unicorn is a no-nonsense, reliable commuter which will serve you well and keep you comfortable. It is not the flashiest option in today's marketplace but will do the job, and do it well. If you want something just slightly flashier but similarly capable, the SP160 (the Unicorn's platform sibling) is a good alternative.If you want something a bit sportier, then the Bajaj Pulsar N160 SS is a good option to look at. It is still comfortable and fuel-efficient like a commuter should be, but packs in more features and a dash of sportiness. Take test rides of these options before making your decision.

Hi, I am planning to purchase the new Dominar 400 (350) but since Bajaj is rolling out a new 5-inch TFT, Golden USDs and new colors in the bike, I am waiting for its update. Do you think that it is worth waiting for? What could be the expected launch time for the updated Bajaj Dominar 400 with the new 5-inch TFT?

It is reasonable to expect that the latest slew of updates to Bajaj's motorcycles will eventually make their way to the 350cc Dominar 400, although the brand has made no indication towards this actually being the case. Its platform sibling, the Pulsar NS400Z, recently received this same update as well. If you are planning to purchase the Dominar, we'd recommend you go ahead with your decision because there's no confirmed information regarding when the bike will receive these features and you could potentially be looking at rather a long wait.
