I want an automatic car for my daily commute in Pune traffic. My daily running will be approximately 20 km for my office commute, along with occasional long trips on weekends. Considering the increasing ethanol blending and rising petrol prices, please suggest which option would be more practical for my usage. I am confused between Honda Amaze VX CVT and the Hyundai Venue HX6 DCT. I have heard that the 1.0-litre turbo DCT delivers significantly lower mileage than the CVT in traffic conditions like those in Pune.

Your 20km daily commute in Pune traffic means you need a car that is smooth, reliable and easy to live with, and the Amaze’s CVT gearbox is far better suited to stop-start conditions than the Venue’s DCT. The Venue HX6 DCT is a good car, but the 1.0 turbo petrol paired with a dual-clutch automatic of this Hyundai car is not the most efficient setup in heavy traffic, and the gearbox can feel a bit jerky at low speeds. The Amaze’s naturally aspirated petrol engine is also simpler and more predictable in terms of power delivery and mileage. Hello, I am planning to buy an EV that I need for a daily commute 170 km out which 80 km is on expressway. Rest is on state highway and city with heavy vehicle traffic. I am looking for a comfortable 7-seater for long term for at least next 8-10 years. I am inclined towards MG Tomahawk top trim and XEV 9s pack two Above 70kWh. Please advise.

The third row is usable for adults on shorter journeys, although boot space with all three rows up is limited.The XEV 9S Pack Two Above 70 is the more sophisticated and performance-oriented option, but the Tomahawk's strengths are better aligned with your priorities: comfort, space and easy highway cruising. Our first drive also found it surprisingly easy to drive despite its size, with excellent visibility and light steering.The only concern is that the Tomahawk is a new EV, so there is no established 8–10 year ownership track record yet. An extended warranty would therefore be worth considering.

The Honda Elevate gives you most of what you need at a significantly lower cost, and Honda’s service network is strong enough to make ownership hassle-free. Go for the Elevate if you value its stronger engine performance, else for a refined drive experience, pick the Creta.

Help me choose the right car for my usage. Please be practical and challenge my assumptions. My situation: I am 31 and work as a software developer. The Brezza LXI Turbo is far superior to the Punch and Tiago as far as smoothness, performance, and cabin space are concerned. It is also backed by Maruti's widespread support network, and the ownership experience is likely to be fuss-free. The on-road cost of the Brezza LXI will fall within your Rs 9 lakh budget, and even though you might miss a few features, it still feels worth opting for. Alternatively, you could also consider the Maruti Dzire VXI MT for its large boot, comfy ride and strong fuel efficiency.

It is one of the most spacious cars in the segment, with a genuinely usable third row and a comfortable ride that makes it an excellent family car. The petrol engine is smooth, refined and well suited to your running of under 1,000 km a month, where the hybrid premium is harder to justify.The Mahindra XUV 7XO is a strong alternative with a more powerful engine and a more feature-rich cabin, but the HyCross has the edge on space, comfort and long-term ownership experience.The Hyundai Alcazar and Kia Seltos are good cars, but they do not offer the same level of space or comfort, and the Renault Duster is more of a driver's car than a family car. The Toyota car mentioned above is the car you will be happiest with after five years of ownership.
