I currently own a 2007 Hero Honda Glamour and want to buy a new two-wheeler. I am confused between the Honda Activa, TVS Jupiter, Suzuki Access and an electric scooter. My monthly fuel budget is around Rs. 1,500. My office is 16 km from home, and I commute there three days a week. Please suggest the best option considering running costs, reliability, fuel efficiency, low maintenance and long-term ownership.

With your monthly budget for fuel, you can definitely purchase a petrol scooter, and with gentle riding, you may even be able to come under that mark. If you want the typical strengths of a family scooter combined with peppy performance, then the Suzuki Access is to be considered over the 110cc TVS Jupiter and Honda Activa, otherwise the 110s will perform just fine.

If you really want the lowest running cost and have home charging, an electric scooter like the TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, Ather Rizta, and Vida VX2 will cut your monthly running costs quite significantly, and maintenance, too, is minimal. Given your low usage, the fuel savings over a petrol-powered scooter will take some time to recoup. And in case of a spontaneous situation presenting itself, fuelling up a petrol-powered scooter is a much faster process than juicing up an e-scooter's battery.

Take a call between the two based on your usage pattern and then make your decision.

Which has very long seat and boot space. I don't think so battery electric scooter is low budget and daily cost because in every 2 to 5 years battery needs to be changed and it cost 50 to 80k and if we calculate for 15 to 20 years for both petrol and electric scooter, Total cost. I think electric scooter takes more cost. Suzuki access 125cc has very good milage? How much pls?

I am a first-time car buyer and have recently started driving, so I have limited driving experience. My usage will be around 200-300km within Chennai city, with highway travel to my native place, around 650km away, twice a year. I am looking for a reliable and safe car with a naturally aspirated (NA) engine. I am not looking for fancy or premium features, although useful features would be appreciated. The car will mainly be used by a family of five, including three adults and two children. My budget is around Rs 10 lakh, but it is not a strict limit.

Go for the Maruti Suzuki Brezza petrol manual. It is the most sensible first car for your needs. The naturally aspirated petrol engine is smooth, easy to drive and forgiving for a new driver, while the clutch and gearbox are light and user-friendly in city traffic. The Brezza is also one of the most reliable cars in the segment, with Maruti’s strong service network and low maintenance costs, which is important for a first-time owner. It is also a safe car with a solid build and good crash test ratings. The rear seat is comfortable enough for three adults on short city runs, and the boot is adequate for your occasional long highway trips. In your budget, you can get the base LXi variant with the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine. While it misses out on fancy features, it covers all the essentials well.

I’m a first-time car buyer. My usage will be around 40% city driving and 60% on state highways, with a monthly running of approximately 800-1,000 km. The roads are somewhat okay, with some bad stretches but mostly good roads. I’m looking for an automatic transmission. Hatchbacks, compact sedans, and compact SUVs are all fine. My budget is flexible, between Rs. 12 lakh and Rs. 14 lakh. I have shortlisted 3-4 vehicles, namely: 1. Honda Amaze ZX CVT 2. Maruti Brezza ZXi Automatic 3. Mahindra XUV 3XO AX5 Automatic Any other car recommendations are also welcome. I am currently posted in Varanasi, if that helps.

With 40 percent city and 60 percent highway use, the 3XO is the better fit among your three choices. Its turbo petrol engine has considerably stronger low- and mid-range performance than the Brezza and Amaze, which will be useful on state highways, particularly when carrying passengers and luggage. It also has a well-judged ride that copes well with broken roads.The Brezza ZXi AT would be the choice for easier ownership. Its petrol engine is smoother, and Maruti's service network is a significant advantage, while its ride quality is very good on poor roads. It is also the more relaxed choice if outright performance is not important.The Amaze ZX CVT is worth considering if you prefer a sedan. Its CVT is smooth, and the suspension is comfortable over rough city roads, while the large boot is useful for highway trips. However, its engine lacks the punch of the 3XO, particularly with a full load, and the cabin is narrower.The Skoda Kylaq 1.0 TSI AT is also worth adding to the shortlist if driving enjoyment is important. It has a well sorted chassis and a conventional automatic, making it particularly appealing for your highway heavy usage.
