I am 40 years old, 5'2" tall, and weigh 70 kg. I currently ride a Yamaha Fascino and want to buy a motorcycle. The purpose is more to fulfill a long-held wish than for utility. That said, I will use it for daily commutes within a 10 km radius, often with my daughter. I have never owned a motorcycle before, although I have ridden a Royal Enfield Bullet 350 a couple of times. My budget is around Rs. 2.5 lakh. Could you suggest motorcycles that are reasonably fuel-efficient, relatively easy to maintain, and suitable for ownership over the next 10 years? Thanks!

Since you have mentioned you've ridden the Royal Enfield Bullet 350 in the past and you are buying this bike to fulfill a dream, we'd recommend the Bullet itself. It is a comfortable machine with a characterful and smooth engine and will fit within your budget too. If you want brighter colours and a slightly more different look, then look at its sibling, the Classic 350.

If you want something that won't be as commonplace as either of these aforementioned bikes but still want a machine that can be used daily, their offbeat sibling, the Goan Classic 350 is the right bike for you. It has a lower seat height than both the Classic and Bullet which will make it easier for a person with a shorter frame like yours to manage around town, which is where you're going to be spending most of your time.

Take test rides of the Goan and the Bullet and then make your decision based on which one you like more.

It is also a safe car with a solid build and good crash test ratings. The rear seat is comfortable enough for three adults on short city runs, and the boot is adequate for your occasional long highway trips. In your budget, you can get the base LXi variant with the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine. While it misses out on fancy features, it covers all the essentials well.

I currently own a Himalayan 450 and am looking to upgrade to a twin-cylinder ADV with a refined engine and good electronics. I mainly use the bike for long rides and highway touring and am not particularly interested in off-roading. My budget is up to Rs 8 lakh. Could you suggest some good ADV options that would suit my requirements?

The BMW F 450 GS is the only twin-cylinder adventure motorcycle that fits in your budget, while the Honda NX500 E-Clutch is another option you can check out. That said, both these motorcycles are not a significant upgrade over your Himalayan 450 in terms of performance and the on-road price of the NX500 E-Clutch stretches over your Rs 8 lakh budget. We suggest you wait until the new Royal Enfield Himalayan 750 and the Norton Atlas GT will be available in the Indian market. Take a test ride of both these motorcycles and pick which one suits you best.

Hi, I have Rs. 20 lakh in hand and want to buy an EV. However, my height is a concern, as I am 6'1" tall, so I want a car that is comfortable for my height. I drive roughly 180 km per week and around 1,000 km every month on long road trips.

At 6ft 1in, the Sierra EV is worth considering first because the cabin is genuinely spacious and the driving position should comfortably accommodate a taller driver. It also gives you the SUV stance and substantial cabin that you are looking for, while the large boot makes it better suited to your regular long trips.Your running also makes an EV a sensible choice. Around 180km a week is easily covered through home charging, while the longer 1,000km trips will require some planning around fast charging. The Sierra EV's ride is another advantage for your usage, particularly if those long journeys include uneven roads.The Kia Carens Clavis EV is the other car worth considering. It offers a very spacious cabin and greater seating flexibility, so it makes more sense if carrying family members regularly is important. For a primarily five-seat requirement, however, the Sierra's SUV packaging is likely to appeal more.

I’m a first-time car buyer. My usage will be around 40% city driving and 60% on state highways, with a monthly running of approximately 800-1,000 km. The roads are somewhat okay, with some bad stretches but mostly good roads. I’m looking for an automatic transmission. Hatchbacks, compact sedans, and compact SUVs are all fine. My budget is flexible, between Rs. 12 lakh and Rs. 14 lakh. I have shortlisted 3-4 vehicles, namely: 1. Honda Amaze ZX CVT 2. Maruti Brezza ZXi Automatic 3. Mahindra XUV 3XO AX5 Automatic Any other car recommendations are also welcome. I am currently posted in Varanasi, if that helps.

With 40 percent city and 60 percent highway use, the 3XO is the better fit among your three choices. Its turbo petrol engine has considerably stronger low- and mid-range performance than the Brezza and Amaze, which will be useful on state highways, particularly when carrying passengers and luggage. It also has a well-judged ride that copes well with broken roads.The Brezza ZXi AT would be the choice for easier ownership. Its petrol engine is smoother, and Maruti's service network is a significant advantage, while its ride quality is very good on poor roads. It is also the more relaxed choice if outright performance is not important.The Amaze ZX CVT is worth considering if you prefer a sedan. Its CVT is smooth, and the suspension is comfortable over rough city roads, while the large boot is useful for highway trips. However, its engine lacks the punch of the 3XO, particularly with a full load, and the cabin is narrower.The Skoda Kylaq 1.0 TSI AT is also worth adding to the shortlist if driving enjoyment is important.
