Hi, I am a first time buyer and live in Mumbai. I am confused whether I should buy Maruti Suzuki Fronx Amt or Maruti Suzuki Brezza Turbo. My usage is daily office commute which is approximately 40km and one trip in 2-3 months. Please suggest if any other option in automatic or manual are available.

With a daily commute of around 40km in Mumbai traffic and only occasional highway trips, an automatic would be much better to have. Between the two, the Fronx would thus be the one to go for as the Brezza Turbo comes with a manual only. The Fronx AMT also keeps costs down while still giving you the convenience of an automatic, though the shifts will not be as smooth as a torque convertor (TC) automatic which is what the Fronx Turbo comes with. Thus if your traffic conditions are constant start stop, you would be better off with the TC auto. Besides the two options you could also consider the Brezza with the 1.5 litre engine as this comes with a TC auto and being naturally aspirated makes for a straightforward drive experience in the city.

Hey, We are planning to buy a sub-4-metre SUV, and our main requirement is good suspension for Bengaluru’s pothole-filled roads, especially as my wife is pregnant. We have shortlisted the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Mahindra XUV 3XO, and Tata Nexon. Which one would you recommend for our requirements? I was also considering a larger SUV like the Honda Elevate, but a well-equipped variant costs around Rs. 18 lakh on-road, which is beyond my budget. Given your priorities, the Mahindra XUV 3XO is the best fit. It has the most comfortable ride in the segment, with a suspension that deals with broken roads and potholes better than the Brezza or Nexon. The wide rear seat and good cabin space will also make a difference for your wife and family. The Brezza is the more reliable long-term ownership proposition, but its ride is not as plush as the 3XO. I live in Delhi NCR with a monthly running of 1,500 km. I currently drive a GV Delta AT and am confused between Brezza VXi CNG or Brezza VXi AT. My main confusion is between CNG and AT. Ideally, I want both, but no such option is available. Should I go with the ZXi AT, but I am not interested in a sunroof.

With 1,500 km a month in Delhi NCR, the decision is really between fuel savings and convenience. The Brezza VXI CNG will save you money on running costs, but you will have to live with a manual gearbox in heavy traffic, which can get tiring over time. The Brezza VXI AT, on the other hand, gives you the convenience of an automatic, but you will be paying more for fuel.Given your usage and the fact that you are already driving a Grand Vitara Delta AT, it makes more sense to stick with an automatic. The fuel savings from CNG are significant, but the daily convenience of an automatic in Delhi traffic is hard to put a price on. If you are open to the ZXI AT, it is the better choice overall, even if you are not interested in the sunroof. The additional features and the automatic gearbox will make ownership easier and more enjoyable in the long run.

With a running of just 6,000 km a year, a petrol engine is the right choice, and the Harrier petrol is a good fit if you like the size and space. The bigger question is the waiting period. Tata’s official waiting periods can vary by city and dealer, but for the Harrier petrol, it is not unusual to see waits of 2-3 months depending on demand and allocation. If your dealer is already saying it may not arrive on time, it is worth checking with other Tata dealers in your city to see if they have a shorter queue or a cancelled booking in the same variant.If you are happy with the Harrier’s space and comfort, it is worth waiting a few more weeks rather than switching to a different car. The only reason to change would be if you need the car urgently. In that case, the Mahindra XUV 7XO petrol is the closest alternative.
