The 2023 edition of the supercross racing event Super x Mania 2023 was held on October 29 at Venom Motopark, on Mumbai’s outskirts. Spearheaded by Indian Automotive Racing Club, 8-time national champion and KTM India factory driver Rustom Patel, and entrepreneur Zubair Agloria, the FMSCI-approved event delivered on its promises of electrifying racing and lots of entertainment. Venom Motopark, designed by Patel, is a curated off-road track that was opened earlier this year.

There were eight events for the crowd to enjoy, who, despite the scorching heat of a sunny Sunday afternoon, remained undeterred. The first event of the day was the Group A foreign bikes class with engine capacities up to 500cc. This event was also the longest with 12 laps of high-flying racing featuring some of the best supercross riders from all across India. TVS racing’s Rugved Barguje emerged as the winner.

Other events included Group B India Experts 500cc category, a special class for the Hero Impulse and Xpulse motorbikes up to 250cc, a novice class exclusively for first timers and even a kids category for children under 15. Besides these events, there was also an exclusive women-only category, a special scooter class featuring off-road tuned and customised scooters limited to 250cc engines as well as a Gold Veterans class for riders aged 45 and above.

In textbook Supercross fashion, the course featured sharp turns and shorter straights compared to standard motocross race tracks, as well as a rugged terrain and steep jumps promising high-flying action across the board. Some jumps on the track had riders jumping almost 20 feet in the air.

“We’re happy the event was such a hit with the participants and the crowd alike,” said Patel. Having previously organised events like the Gulf Monsoon Endurance in August this year, the team behind Venomotorsportz also plan on organising more events in the future. Agloria said, “There are a lot of intriguing ideas currently on the table and we’re exploring them as of now.” “But I am certain there’s big things ahead for us.”
