TVS Racing signs first female rider for rally team

Shreya will ride in the Indian National Rally Championship this year.

TVS Racing has signed their first woman rider, Shreya Sunder Iyer, to be a part of the TVS Racing team in the two-wheeler Indian National Rally championship this year.

Shreya, 24, began riding at the age of 17 and has ridden extensively across India. She said "I am proud to be a part of the TVS Racing team. TVS Racing is by far the best Indian racing team with the best motorbikes and trainers. This association will help me work with the best in class machines, racers and technology" 

Arvind Pangaonkar, Head of Team TVS Racing said, “We are happy to sign Shreya for the TVS Racing team and believe that her participation will encourage women to consider racing as a career. TVS Racing is strongly committed to promote two wheeler racing in India and generate interest and improve support for the sport in India."

"We make continuous efforts to take the sport to as many section of the society as possible and create the ultimate machine and promote the riders for these machines", he added. 

 The journey of TVS Racing began 33 years back when Sundaram Clayton Limited (A TVS Group company) introduced its 50 cc mopeds in the arena of road racing.

Since then TVS Racing has been actively participating on and off- road racing events such as road racing, Super-cross and Motocross, Dirt Tracks, Rally etc.

In early 2015, TVS Racing became the first Indian factory team to take part in the Dakar rally, which is the longest and toughest rally in the world.
