Royal Enfield Continental GT Cup: what is it?

The Continental GT Cup will debut at the 2021 JK National Racing Championship. This will be a one-make series, featuring a race-prepped version of the Continental GT 650.

The track-spec Continental GT-R650 features some modifications to make it race ready. These include a bespoke stainless steel exhaust that Royal Enfield says is tuned to give 12 percent more power. There’s a stiffer race-tuned suspension (both front and rear), lowered race clip-on handlebars, rear-set foot pegs, specially designed fairing and belly pan for improved aerodynamic performance and JK race tyres. It is also 24kg lighter as it only keeps essentials required for racing.

Royal Enfield Continental GT Cup dates

A total of four rounds will take place, with each round comprising two races. Rounds 1, 2 and 3 will be held at the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore on October 21-24, November 18-21 and December 2-5, respectively. The final round will be at the Buddh International Circuit on January 13-16, 2022.

But there is an extensive selection process before that. Online registrations open today and no entries will be accepted after 5pm on September 30. Out of all registrations, 100 eligible riders will make it to the Rider Selection Programme at the Kari Motor Speedway on October 18-19. Out of these, 18 of the fastest riders will be shortlisted for the championship.

Those interested can head here to register for the Royal Enfield Continental GT Cup.
