‘Quattroporte’ is Italian for ‘four doors’ and the word is best associated with Maserati’s own full-sized four-door luxury sedan. The Maserati Quattroporte can be had in India with a (relatively) level-headed V6 diesel while the refreshed twin-turbo V8 petrol is coming soon. Unfortunately, the Maserati Quattroporte is far more expensive than like-sized rivals.

The Maserati Quattroporte sure can turn heads. It’s massive to begin with and the design is rich in Italian flair. The cabin is equally glamorous, and there’s a huge catalogue of materials, finishes and optional features, such as individual rear seats, to further personalise the space to your liking. However, if you look close, the Maserati Quattroporte cabin lacks the finesse of German limousines. No complaints for room, though. You can really stretch out on the back seat of a Quattroporte.
The Maserati Quattroporte’s 275hp, 3.0-litre V6 diesel feels strong in the mid-range and sounds fairly nice too, but, on the whole, it isn’t exciting enough for a limo with sporty pretensions. It's a pity that Maserati has temporarily withdrawn the GTS whose 530hp, 3.8-litre V8 petrol is more in line with the Quattroporte’s persona. The Quattroporte steers with grace, but everyday usability is hampered by the woefully inadequate ground clearance. Ride comfort is also not at par with other limos.
