Chevrolet has cut prices of the Trailblazer by Rs 3.04 lakh, with the tag now starting at Rs 23.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The reduction comes at the back of Ford slashing prices of the Endeavour by up to Rs 2.82 lakh late last month. The Trailblazer is sold in India as a fully-imported unit while its direct rivals, the Endeavour and Fortuner, are assembled locally.

The timing of the price cut is interesting as Chevrolet seems to be countering the impending launch of the new Toyota Fortuner. Also, it may help Chevrolet clear stocks to pave the way for the facelifted Trailblazer that recently went on sale globally.

In general, the Trailblazer has failed to garner much interest among premium SUV buyers, while the new Endeavour has been met with much fervour. It sells around 500 units a month on average, compared to just 48 Trailblazers between January and August 2016. The drop in pricing could also improve the perception of value, especially with the Trailblazer missing out on the seldom-bought-but-highly-thought-of all-wheel-drive system offered by its rivals.

Chevrolet launched the Trailblazer in October 2015 as a replacement for the Captiva. The SUV is available in one fully-loaded LTZ automatic trim, with no all-wheel drive on offer. It is also readily available at certain dealerships, though quite a few quote a waiting period of three months for the delivery of the SUV.
