Korean automaker, SsangYong has updated the Korando C SUV for the second time since its launch internationally back in 2010. The latest updates to the model bring with it cosmetic updates to the exterior and cabin.

In terms of cosmetic changes to the exterior, the SUV gets new headlamps, grille and bumpers, new 18-inch alloy wheels, and a resculpted hood. The styling of the rear though remains very similar to the pre-facelifted SUV.

Inside, the dashboard has been revised with a new steering wheel and a new instrument cluster with changeable backlight colours. The remainder of the dashboard remains more or less unchanged, with a 7.0-inch touchscreen sitting atop the centre console flanked by vertical air con vents.

Under the hood, the facelifted SUV is available with a choice of three diesels and a petrol engine. In terms of diesel engines, the SUV is available with a 178hp 2.2-litre diesel along with a smaller 2.0-litre unit in two states of tune – 175hp and 149hp. Both engines get the option of all-wheel drive and a choice of manual and automatic gearboxes. The petrol engine offered is a 149hp 2.0-litre unit that is also offered with the choice of a manual or automatic gearbox and an all-wheel drive option.

SsangYong had initially tested the Korando in India back in 2012 though it was never confirmed if the SUV would be offered in our market. Now, with SsangYong expected to exit the market completely, it is highly unlikely that the model will head to our shores. The Rexton though is expected to be replaced by the next-gen model, but will now be badged as a Mahindra.
