Maruti has launched the updated Swift Dzire compact sedan in India. As reported by us earlier, the 2015 Swift Dzire is priced from Rs 5.07 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The 2015 Swift Dzire facelift gets external styling tweaks, such as a new front bumper with a larger air dam, and re-styled fog lamp inserts with L-shaped aluminum trim on its sides. The headlights get black inserts and minor re-profiling. The grille is also all new, with a thick V-shaped chrome bar on the top and a prominent Suzuki logo in the centre that sits on the honeycomb style base. Higher variants get new-look alloy wheels and rear parking sensors, while lower trims will get new-design wheel caps that are usually installed at dealerships.
It also gets four new paint shades, some of them shared with the Ciaz. On the insides, the updated Dzire, like the refreshed Swift, gets electric folding wing mirrors, push-button start for higher trims and smart-key access. It also gets new upholstery and a better six-speaker sound system with Bluetooth connectivity. The dual-tone shades for the dashboard are retained.
As far as safety features go, the Dzire VDi, ZDi and ZXi now come with ABS and EBD while the ZXi and ZDi come with dual front airbags.
The refreshed Swift Dzire’s petrol engine has also been tweaked, in pursuit of better fuel efficiency. Its 1.2-litre petrol motor is now marginally less powerful (83.1bhp instead of 85.8bhp) but delivers an increase in fuel efficiency (20.85 kpl instead of 19.1 kpl). The diesel motor, on the other hand, continues with the same power output, but now delivers 3.19kpl more (26.59kpl instead of 23.4 kpl), thanks to a tweaked ECU and reduced friction. This makes the Dzire diesel achieve best effeciency figures for a diesel car sold in India.
The 2015 Swift Dzire facelift competes with the likes of the Tata Zest, Hyundai Xcent and Honda Amaze.
