BMW has begun its promotional campaign for the all-new 3-series saloon, which is slated to launch on July 27 in Mumbai.

The Bavarian automaker has been creative with its promotional activities for the new 3-series. Its publicity car convoys are enveloped in white paper with QR codes printed all over. These convoys have so far been spotted in cities like Bangalore, Mumbai and Ahmedabad. Scanning the QR codes pasted on the new 3-series using your smartphone takes you to the new 3-series’ website. Additionally, if you ask the drivers of these publicity cars for more information, they offer you small postcards that contain more info on the new Beemer.

There’s another campaign running at Mumbai’s Infiniti Mall. This involves a glass box filled with red balls covering the new 3-series. The number of balls in the glass box will be reduced each day, leading up to the launch of the new 3-series.

The new 3-series will come with three engine options. The base 320d will get a 2.0-litre diesel motor, which is essentially an upgraded version of the one available on the current car. The next will be a 320i with 2.0-litre, 184bhp turbo petrol, while the top-of-the-line 328i will also come with a 2.0-litre petrol engine but with upgraded turbo with 245bhp.
