Mitsubishi will launch the Pajero Sport 4X2 automatic in India this month. We had reported way back in August this year that Mitsubishi is looking at expanding the Pajero Sport India line-up by adding an automatic variant.
The current Pajero Sport comes with a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder diesel motor mated to a 5-speed manual. The upcoming Pajero Sport Automatic is expected to come with a 5-speed unit coupled to the same engine as the manual sibling. While the Pajero Sport manual comes with a 4X4, the automatic variant will come with only a 4X2 setup.
The Pajero Sport Automatic is also expected to get a few aesthetic improvements. The fascia could get a new grille and bumpers. On the inside, expect to see more equipment, lighter shades and an overall upmarket feel. Mitsubishi may charge a premium of around Rs 1-1.5 lakh for the Pajero Sport automatic over the existing manual model. When it hits the market, the Pajero Sport automatic will take on the likes of Hyundai's Santa Fe and Toyota's Fortuner.
Mitsubishi has also launched a Pajero Sport Limited Edition with dual-tone exterior paint.
