Mercedes has confirmed that it will be manufacturing a new AMG Sport line of cars. Positioned just below the all-out AMG performance line, the AMG Sport line-up will directly rival the likes of Audi’s S line and BMW’s M performance wing.

The AMG Sport line-up will be distinguished by subtle changes to the exterior and some styling tweaks on the inside. They will also get specifically tuned engines, chassis parts and brakes, coming from the full-blown AMG models. All-wheel-drive is expected as standard in some markets.

Mercedes has also confirmed that the launch of these cars is not too far into the future. Two AMG Sport models will make their global debut at the upcoming Detroit motor show in January 2015. From the teaser, it also seems like one of the models is based on the GLE Coupe, while the other looks to be a sibling to the C63 AMG.
