Maruti rolls out 5L K-series motors

Maruti Suzuki has rolled out 5-lakh K-series engines in less than a span of two years. Initially produced as a 1-litre motor, the K-series engine made its Indian debut in the A-Star back in October 2008. The 998cc 67bhp motor went on to power the Zen Estilo, the new WagonR and the latest Alto K10. A more powerful 1.2-litre K-series version then made its first appearance in the Ritz in May 2009, followed the Swift and Swift Dzire in January 2010.

To meet with the growing demands, the company has announced an increase in the K-series engine production by 200,000 units to add to its initial number of 500,000 K-series motor.
