Maruti Suzuki India has recorded a sharp growth of 23 percent in the sale of CNG cars for the fiscal year 2014-15. Across this period, Maruti sold a total of 62,996 CNG cars in our market, taking the total contribution of CNG cars to 5.4 percent of the company’s total sales.

Maruti claims that its Intelligent Gas Port Injection (i-GPI) technology offers the best mileage, reliability and performance in the market. The i-GPI technology is based on a Dual-ECU (Engine Control Unit) set-up to allow optimum quantities of CNG to be delivered to every cylinder by using separate injectors for every cylinder to allow for more efficient use and consistent performance.

At present, Maruti offers six cars with the factory fitted CNG kit – the Alto 800, the Alto K10, the Eeco, the Wagon R, the Celerio and the Ertiga.
