Nissan has just revealed the shock prices for its eagerly awaited hatchback, the Micra with the base petrol (XE) version being priced at a stunning Rs 3.98 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), rising up to Rs 5.28 lakh for the top-end (XV) variant.

The Micra competes against the newly launched Ford Figo, Volkswagen Polo, Hyundai i20, Fiat Punto, Tata Indica Vista and the established Maruti Swift. The base Polo has a price tag of Rs. 4.42 lakh, while the base price for the Swift is Rs. 3,99lakh. However, the car that could give the baby Nissan a run for its money is the Figo which has been competitively priced at Rs 3,53lakh for the base petrol variant. (All prices ex-showroom Delhi).

The Micra will be available in three variants, XE which is priced at Rs 3.98lakh, XL retailing at 4.69lakh and the top of the line XV comes with a sticker price of Rs 5.28lakh. The basic variant, the XE gets air conditioner, electronic power steering; tilt adjustable steering, a drive computer, engine immobilizer, driver airbag and black interiors. The XL variant in addition to XE features gets full wheel covers, rear wiper, tachometer, rear parcel tray, integrated audio system with 4 speaker aux-in port, front and rear power windows, central locking and remote keyless entry. The top variant, the XV, comes packed with features like electric adjustable and foldable ORVMs, automatic climate control, intelligent key with push button ignition, front passenger airbag, ABS, EBD, front for lamps and security alarm.

The Micra is based on Nissan’s new V (‘Versatility’) platform, which will also be used as the basis of some more future models that are in the pipeline. Fuel Efficiency and low weight are among the strengths of the V-platform. The key is an all new light weight and fuel efficient three cylinder 1.2-litre engine which is tuned for Fuel efficiency.

Later in the year, The Micra will also get a Renault sourced 1.5-litre, 65bhp turbo-diesel which also powers the Logan.
