A new Nissan Kicks concept SUV has been revealed ahead of the Sao Paulo motor show in Brazil.

The Kicks concept gives a thinly veiled look at a future production compact crossover model. That model is expected to go on sale in the Brazilian market, and also takes cues from the Extrem concept that made its debut in 2012.

Designed by Nissan design studios in both North and South America, the Kicks concept features traditional SUV styling traits, including a raised ride height and muscular front and rear bumpers. The model also uses Nissan's V-shaped front-end design, as well as elements taken from the Sport Sedan Concept the new Murano, a crossover sold in the US and Canadian markets.

The new Kicks concept sits on 19-inch alloy wheels, and measures 4300mm long by 1800mm wide, with a height of 1600mm. No information about the Kicks' powertrain has been revealed, but the Extrem concept borrowed its mechanicals from the Nissan March (also sold in Indian markets as the Micra).

While the vehicle is not confirmed for other global markets, Nissan design boss Shiro Nakamura says the firm is “naturally considering if it would meet the needs of urban-dwellers in other countries around the world.”
