Though Honda has hardly let out any official details regarding the upcoming baby NSX so far, patent sketches filed by the carmaker with the European Union Intellectual Property Office reveal exterior and interior designs of the new sportscar for the first time. The Toyota Supra rival is likely to be powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged engine, similar to the Civic Type R, paired with dual electric motors.

The new images show that the car will have a Formula One-inspired steering wheel and bucket seats which appear to be fixed to the monocoque and flow seamlessly into the doors. The interior layout has resemblances with the current NSX, but elements from the high-tech dashboard concept developed by Acura in 2016 are also expected to be included.

Though the company has been exceptionally quiet about its latest baby NSX in development, it is widely perceived as Honda’s replacement for the existing S2000. With the brand widely speculated to expand its NSX range even more in the future – Type R, convertible and all-electric variants are also considered as realistic possibilities.
