Mercedes has released details of the new GL63 AMG. The 2.5-tonne, seven-seat GL gets the new 5.5-litre biturbo V8 engine, which sends 549bhp to the permanent, 40/60 front-rear biased four-wheel drive system. It follows on from the recently launched ML63 and G63 AMG in international markets.

A seven-speed 7G-Tronic AMG auto ‘box is standard and helps the GL AMG to a 4.9sec 0-100kph sprint, 250kph limited top speed. Suspension comes via an ‘AMG ride control’ package of adaptive, self-levelling air suspension and active roll-bars.
