As reported earlier, Ford will only be bringing the facelifted EcoSport, revealed internationally last year, to India during the latter half of the year. Though, prior to that, the automaker seems to have planned a small update on the current model.

The update will mostly include minor cosmetic changes, along with a revision of the feature list which could expand to include a touchscreen infotainment system. This would bring it on par with the segment hot seller, the Maruti Vitara Brezza, which offers a touchscreen system on the top variant.

The EcoSport had long been the most popular model in the sub-four metre SUV segment but with Maruti’s introduction of the Brezza the automaker was quickly dethroned as the segment leader. Ford had drastically cut prices for the EcoSport in a bid to make the model more competitive but the price revision doesn’t seem to have had an effect. Expect Ford to launch the updated EcoSport soon.

On the other hand, the facelifted EcoSport will receive a comprehensive makeover with a heavily restyled front fascia, with the styling in line with Ford’s international SUV range. The cabin too will get a noticeable makeover with a new dashboard. Unlike the revealed international model, the Indian car will retain some of its current design cues such as the tailgate-mounted spare wheel. Expect the engines to also remain unchanged.
