Update: Ford EcoSport with more powerful diesel engine launched at Rs 6.79 lakh

Ford will launch the 2016 EcoSport in India soon. We has earlier reported about the power upgrade on the EcoSport diesel. The updated EcoSport will continue to be offered with the choice of two petrol and one diesel engine as with the current model. While the petrol engines on offer – the 1.5-litre version and the 1.0-litre EcoBoost – are likely to remain unchanged, the diesel engine will receive an upgrade, from the current car’s 89.7bhp and 20.80kgm, it will now come with 98.6bhp and 20.90kgm of torque. The transmission choices for the EcoSport will also remain the same.

Ford recently launched the updated EcoSport for international markets, with reduced ground clearance, and loses out on the tailgate-mounted spare wheel. However, the 2016 EcoSport headed to India, in all probability, will look like the current model.

The EcoSport’s more powerful diesel engine will now deliver an ARAI-claimed fuel efficiency figure of 22.27kpl instead of the outgoing models 22.67kpl. We expect the 2016 EcoSport to hit showrooms soon.
