Fiat is expected to replace its ageing Linea sedan with an all-new sedan – the Aegea internationally. The manufacturer revealed the car in concept form at the Istanbul motor show earlier this year. Measuring at 4.5 metres in length, 1.78 metres in width, 1.48 metres in height and with a 2.64 metres-long wheelbase, the Aegea will resemble the Linea in terms of dimensions.

In terms of design, up front, there’s the large prominent grille that merges neatly into the headlamps. There are bold creases along its sides, hood and roof and there’s an integrated spoiler on the boot. Diamond-cut alloy wheels and chrome door handles will also be on offer.

Inside, the production version of this sedan is also likely to get a 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Fiat UConnect media system, automatic climate control, Bluetooth connectivity and a multi-function steering wheel.

Power will be sourced from a choice of two Fiat Multijet II diesel engines and two petrol engines in varying states of tune with output expected between 94bhp and 118bhp. Both manual and automatic transmissions will be on offer.

The Fiat Aegea will be initially manufactured in left-hand-drive guise only and is likely to replace the Linea in most international markets. For India, Fiat is still evaluating options between this new sedan and the Grand Sienna which is currently on sale in the Brazilian market. Fiat will also supposedly showcase a hatchback version of the Aegea at the Geneva auto show in March next year.
