DC is gearing up to launch a more powerful version of its mid-engined sportscar, the Avanti. This model, badged Avanti 310, is said to get minor styling changes to the exterior, a more powerful engine and the option of an AMT gearbox.

Autocar has learned that the Avanti 310 is to come with carbon-fibre sill extensions, a front splitter, rear diffuser, colour-contrast rear spoiler and new-design alloy wheels finished in black. The cabin will feature Alcantara-finished sports seats and steering, and a digital instrument display. There are other minor changes that will be incorporated on the car. The upgrades on the Avanti have been undertaken by a third party from Europe.

While the Avanti is equipped with a 250bhp 2.0-litre motor, the new Avanti 310 will be fitted with a 310bhp 2.0-litre engine mated to a six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed AMT gearbox with paddle shifters. To develop the additional power, the engine will be strengthened and get bigger injectors and turbos. The car is to feature stiffer anti-roll bars and will sit 20mm lower than its less powerful sibling.

With the standard car at Rs 36.60 lakh, the new Avanti 310 could be priced somewhere around Rs 45 lakh (ex-showroom).

Bookings for this version of the Avanti are already open and deliveries are scheduled to start from April 2016.
