Volkswagen has introduced a new variant of the Cross Polo. The petrol-powered Cross Polo 1.2 MPI has been launched priced at Rs 6.94 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The Cross Polo, until now, was available only with the 1.5-litre TDI diesel motor.

The Cross Polo is a crossover that spawns from the Polo hatchback and comes with body kit to give it a more butch look. The newly-added petrol engine is also the one that does duty in the standard Polo. Mated to a five-speed manual gearbox, it makes 74bhp and 11.22kgm of torque. Volkswagen claims an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 16.47kpl for this model.

In terms of aesthetics, it gets roof-rails, alloy wheels, aggressive bumpers and body cladding.

There is only one trim level, and it gets features and fitments like dual front airbags, ABS, climate control, audio system with CD and aux-in, power windows, flat-bottom steering wheel with controls mounted on it and black upholstery.

The Cross Polo is Volkswagen’s player to take on the likes of the Toyota Etios Cross and the Fiat Avventura.
